When asked about Willis' hip condition, Singletary said, "He's fine." Singletary said every linebacker is nicked up. He said Takeo Spikes is probably nicked up, but he's not going to ask him.

Singletary said he is not yet sure whether Chilo Rachal will take over at right guard for Tony Wragge, who started the first 10 games of the seaon.
Yesterday, Singletary divulged that the 49ers were thinking about promoting Rachal to the starting role. Usually, when a coach says something like that, it means the decision had already been made. That, apparently, was not the case.
When I approached Wragge yesterday to ask him for his thoughts on how he's played this season, he said he did not want to discuss the topic.
"I love my job," he said. "I'm here to support the team."

49ers 2009 schedule
It's never too early to look ahead to next season. We already know 14 of the 49ers' 16 games for 2009. The only games we don't know will be finalized once the standings are settled. The 49ers will play a home game against the team that finishes in the same spot in the NFC South, and they'll play a road game against the team from the NFC East that finishes in the same spot in the standings.
Of course, the 49ers play home and away games against NFC West teams Arizona, St. Louis and Seattle. The 49ers also play home games against the Bears, Lions, Jaguars and Texans Titans, as well as road games at Green Bay, Minnesota, Houston and Indianapolis.
Home: Arizona, St. Louis, Seattle, Chicago, Detroit, Jacksonville, Tennessee and NFC South.
Road: Arizona, St. Louis, Seattle, Green Bay, Minnesota, Houston, Indianapolis and NFC East.

Hey Matt, just a quick question on the schedule. If they are playing the Texans at home, how can they be playing away in Houston?
I am going to Lambeau field for sure. The frozen tundra!
Titans at home; Texans on the road. --Matt M.
Matt, I must be seeing things, a game against Chicago that isn't in Chicago? Could it be?
Based solely on the above fact, I believe next year is the year the Niners really turn it around.
If we get the Eagles on the road, I might go to Philly. One of my favorite cities to visit. Matt, do you ever get to the downtown area of Philly near Independance Hall when you go back there? Some great restaurants and bars!
I've been to Old Tavern (I think that was the name), and had dinner at White Dog Cafe (it's the favorite road dining spot of the Merc's Dan Brown). By the way, Philadelphia ranks No. 11 on my list of NFL road trips.

I agree with much of your list. I put Boston at #1 of the places I've been(fantastic downtown with the Italian and Irish sections separated by a narrow street), and New Orleans at #2. New Orleans has the nicest people of any city I've ever visited, and you can't find a bad restaurant. Check out the Hotel Monteleone in the Quarter when you go down that way. It's where I stay. Close to the Dome and everything else.

I hate myself when I double post. Sorry to everyone.
Matt, Dinner & drinks on me and my Packer fan friend next year at Greenbay! By the way, your blog is my new favorite thing. Because I'm new to it, what do you do during the offseason?
Offseason? I'm not sure I understand the concept of that word.
You can look in the archive of the old blog (49ers.pressdemocrat.com) to see what I wrote about in the months in which games were not being played. You'll find I did not take many days off.

You weren't kidding! What a blast you must have covering the team. Thanks Matt.
Matt, have you been to the Giordano Bros. in North Beach (SF)? I know you love the one in Pittsburgh, so I was just curious. Also, are we still getting new unis next year?
Matt- Yes, what's an offseason? There are always BIG things happening when you're a fan, even if its discussing a possible training camp undrafted free agent. Luckily us 49er fans have a great source of information and discussion points, on this blog.
Yay! Niners coming to Minnesota! I'll finally get to see them in person. Hope they're competitive at that point.
PLEASE LORD....Let the 9ers whoop up on the Cowgirls....I'm gonna be at the game and man, living down here in Cowboy country is tough....they need to win!!!!
LOL I think Singletary better ask spikes if he's knicked up or not. don't want to show THAT much favoritism. Also i hope that Willis doesn't get too banged up against Dallas and totally wreck his hip and can't tackle right.
Throw on a jersey and take the abuse all those brainwashed boys fans are gonna heap on you, and remember the rest of us are there in spirit. Here's to the fans like you that don't let hope die.
I really wanted to go to the Dallas game but I had a conflict so I have to watch it on TV. SATX49er, I wouldn't worry too much about Dallas fans. Perhaps you've been to a game at Tx Stadium but those fans are lame. I've been there a few times and it's always been ridiculously quiet. In fact, IMHO the Dallas crowd is one of the weakest home field crowds in football. I remember going to see Elvis Grbac and Jerry Rice torch the boys and the stadium was like a mausoleum. Of course, get those same people out of the stadium and they're the most obnoxious fans in all of sports.
Matt, are you actually in Dallas? How do you manage to do that? Nobody on the Marin IJ wants to fly their sporting team to cover either 49ers or Raiders. How do you manage to get the flight/all that, company or out of your own pocket?
Matt, can the 49ers actually win a big game, or are we 3 and 13?
SWEET...thanks for the schedule for next year. I will definitely hit up the Houston Game.
Off to Dallas for tomorrow's game, SATX 49er...look for 2 crazy 49ers fans!!
Hey Houston 9er, thanks for the tip, I was a bit worried, where do you watch 49ers games down here?
