The 49ers placed linebacker Ahmad Brooks back on their 53-man roster this morning, waiving receiver Chris Hannon to make room for him.

The move was anticipated after Brooks was let go on Saturday to make room for Hannon's promotion from the practice squad. Hannon was needed to suit up Sunday in Buffalo because of a shortage of receivers.

There is even a chance Brooks could make his 49ers debut on Sunday against the Jets. He has not been active for a game this season. He has spent 11 games on the 49ers' roster after being claimed off waivers from the Bengals prior to the start of the regular season.

I'd love to see Brooks come in on 3rd down to rush Favre. Let him get a few hits in to get his confidence going. It won't make our pass rush any worse, that's for sure.

Welcome back Matt. Do you know if Brooks is 100% healed from his groin injury?

Maztt-What's the story with Brooks. I mean Scott Mc would have gladly given a 4 or 5 round future pick for the guy in the supp. draft. Brooks was a monster in college. Has he given up? He should be playing a ton. Is he even worth keeping??? He passed through waivers and no one wants him??? What's the deal?

Matt, I was wondering the same as Cleveland Mike. Do you have more info on Brooks? Why now do you say "Brooks could make his 49ers debut on Sunday against the Jets"?

It sounds GREAT on paper - but imagine a 34 defesne with Lawsome, Spikes, Willis, and Brooks from right to left. That is a very athletic and very fast linebacking squad.

The story with Brooks is, monstrous talent, even more monstrous Off The Field Issues.

IF he grows up, quits being an ass in his personal life, and dedicates himself to football like Frank Gore or Patrick Willis... he has the athleticism to be an All-Pro.

IF NOT... he'll be a footnote.

So... how bad do you want it, Ahmad?

Some Twenty-something A-holes grow up and go on to bigger and better things. Some don't. Time will tell, as always. He is worth a flyer, as long as he behaves.

That sounds like an outstanding corpse of LB's. Who would compose the 3 DL. Justin Smith/FA NT/Ike Sopoaga???? Perhaps Goldson steps up and becomes a playmaker at safety... Sounds like the makings of a damn good defense. Maybe we could lure Dick Lebeau away from Pittsburgh with a blank check from Jed.

not sure where you heard him being an ass in his personal life recently.....the last i heard of him being in trouble was when he was in college which was 2 yrs ago.......plz refresh my memory has he been in trouble since he has been in the NFL....

Punching incident

Brooks has been accused of punching a woman in the face. The woman said that Brooks and her neighbor were about to fight on April 9, 2008, and she “nicely approached” them and asked them to stop and "take it somewhere else." She says that's when Brooks "pulled back his fist and struck me in the left eye." She then fell and blacked out. When she gained consciousness, she grabbed her children, ran inside her home, called 911 and was taken to an area emergency room. Brooks has been summoned to appear in court on June 6 to answer the fourth-degree assault charges put upon him.[3] Brooks accepted mediation on the charges. He was charged with misdemeanor assault, and the case is expected to be reviewed again in September.
