Linebacker Patrick Willis made the NFC Pro Bowl team for the second time in his two-year career. He has been elected as a starter.
Willis was the only 49ers player selected to the team, but there are some alternates:
Michael Robinson is a second alternate for special teams.
Allen Rossum is a second alternate return man.

That is awesome! Congrats to P Willis!
Wow, I thought for sure that it would just be Willis and Lee again. Great to see the other guys on there.
Matt, can you translate something? If I'm a third alternate could I interpret that to mean that I'm regarded as the 5th best in the conference at my position?
No surprise here.
P-52!!!!
Good for Willis!
Instant 49er - What is going on????? - the least you could do after copying and pasting is tell us what the asterisks * next to the name means.....cmon, what happened to the quality of this site!!!
Big congrats to Bam Bam. I have been and will remain on VD's bandwagon. I think he is one hell of a player who deserves to get the ball more.
Oneniner – Just look at who got the asterisks and try to figure it out. Without knowing, I’m going to guess its first timers.
What...no Roman. He's the best in the league at getting the defense lined up.
RIGHT ON PW!! Now let's get this man a NT!
Glad Lee at least got on the list. I hope next year he can get back close to his 2007 form. He was AWESOME that year. I don't know why he had the dropoff but I do remember a couple plays our ST's let the ball get into the endzone for touchbacks instead of playing it right putting the ball on the 1 or within the 5 yard line. Still great weapon & we're lucky to have him....ANDY!
That is hilarious!
The dropoff is a result of better offense. The Niners don't go three & out every time these days. Overall better team.
He's not smart enough to figure that out, so you'll just have to forgive him.
Andy dropped off because he has not had as many punts this year also we have been getting better field position and moving the ball so not much to net this year. Good thing
and i guess you are smart enough to tell us who the players in bold meant?.......thks for the response Mike in SF #2, (i figured it out after burning sum brain cells) after but still this is an awful-terrible job of cut and paste - a first time computer user could have done a better job.
I'd assume the bold-type font are the 'first team' players, as they were voted in.
Thanks just a fan & Darth!
Let's see, there are 2 bolded for tackle, guard, WR....and one bolded for QB, RB, C, etc.
ok since the fans of the site seem to have more information on this subject than the owners of the log - can you please clarify one thing...if the starter at TE is Jason Witten and the reserve is Chris Cooley, wont that make V. Davis the second reserve ?.......or am i missing someone else?.......this is really a big deal for V. Davis - I think.
from your view i guess the speacial team specialist are not starters....
What, no GORE??? Matt, care to comment on this?
Bold is starters
Q: What, no GORE??? Matt, care to comment on this?
My response: Not a huge surprise when you consider DeAngelo Williams, Matt Forte, Ryan Grant and Brandon Jacobs have all surpassed the 1,000 yard mark. Plus, Williams, Forte and Jacobs have made large contributions to better teams.
By the way, after having a little free time, I've replaced the stop-gap Pro Bowl rosters with something in which you can actually read everybody's full name. Thanks for your patience. --Matt M.
Gore also did not make it last year. Right?
Rossum has been a great return man this year, maybe he should be a little higher?
Ah hah...No TO? He must be pissed! Romo will hear more conplains....
wow looks like the vikings hit gold this probowl, they got so many entries. Next season going to see Staley, Morgan and Hill up there as alternates =P and then starters hopefully.
Another day, another great article by Matt...another stream of idiocy and insults from oneniner.
ATTENTION: BEWARE "ONENINER" THE RESIDENT BLOG IDIOT.
Football is about players! Building a team is the job of the GM and director of player personnel.
I have seen enough. I hope Coach Singletary signs up for the future. There will be 8 NFL jobs and I promise you other teams want him. Imagine Mike in Chicago? HE IS THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO THE NINERS SINCE BILL WALSH WAS HIRED THIRTY YEARS AGO
I hope the Yorks have enough common sense to ask Coach does he have the organization he needs and do what he wants. Stop the silly new age management techniques Jed learned in college. Let Mike Lead!
It is better to let a winning man run the organization and enjoy the fruits of his success then to be the Leader of an organization which is mediocre. Do that and we will love the Yorks.
Matt,
How is Favre in the Pro Bowl over Pennington or Rivers or Kerry Collins, or Big Ben, or Joe Flacco for that matter???
Come on, Matt. This isn't news. News would be if he din't make the pro-bowl. We can pencil Willis in every year.
Seriously though, thanks for all you do, MM. Merry Christmas to you and the rest of the FAITHFUL.
Cooley on IR and he's in the pro-bowl??????? what an outrage!! Vernon got jacked.
