Former Raiders executive Michael Lombardi reports for the National Football Post that the
* * *UPDATE (8 p.m.): Since I posted this intial report from National Football Post, I've received information that Jagodzinski is not interviewing for the 49ers job, after all. Click here for the latest update.
Jeff Jagodzinski spent the past two seasons as
Jagodzinski, 45, worked under Mike McCarthy as Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator in 2006. He worked with the Packers from 1999 to 2003 as tight ends coach. He coached the Atlanta Falcons' offensive line in 2004 and '05 before rejoining the Packers on McCarthy's staff.
The Packers ranked ninth in the NFL in yards per game with Jagodzinski as coordinator. The Packers were 22nd in scoring and 23rd with 103.9 yards rushing per game.

That was fast. Thanks.
That was fast. Thanks.
A person who lies to current management while searching for bigger and better roles outside the organization. Doesn't sound like a good fit for our #1 need at OC (someone who'll stay more than a year).
This clearly is a methodical search by the 49ers. They are doing their homework and interviewing a number of great candidates. I like what I am seeing out of McSingletary. This is so much better than the knee jerk signing of Mike Martz last year.
That might have come out a little harsh. I'm just saying that the 49ers should be a little bit more careful about who they hire. Sure thing long term candidates should be our number one priority.
You can have a good coordinator who will stay on despite huge success. See Jim Johnson in Philly.
Yep, and up until next year, Monte Kiffin. Wish we could have snared Kiffin instead of Erickson when we let Mooch go. Although Erickson was royally shafted with one of the worst salary cap purges ever.
Hmmm, maybe that was his way of stickin' it to McCarthy after he bailed on us in '05.
Maybe he didn't want Aaron Rogers giving him the finger.
Maybe his family preferred Denver winters to GB's.
Maybe the AFC west is easier to be successful than the NFC north.
Maybe it's more money in Denver.
Maybe he wants to learn some Belichick defense from its OC.
Maybe Denver's D has no where to go but up, but the Packers want big time D.
Maybe he didn't want us beating his butt next year.
Maybe I should shut up.
You got one "maybe" right, Skeeberton.
Matt or anyone else:
Since Singletary took over for Nolan as head coach did he promote anyone on the current staff to his old position of assistant head coach? If not will he be hiring someone he trusts to he his right hand person so to speak like Singletary was for Nolan?
doesn't sound too good for the BC coach finding another job leaving the way he did. Espacially the way norv left really burned the niners and it'll be hard to get away from anything that smells anything that might turn into a turner.
On another note, turner is doing a good job with the chargers wish him the best so he'll never come back to the niners.
Good for Coach Nolan. I wish he could have sustained the momentum after that 2006 game in Denver. I will always believe that his Dad's illness and then his passing had a real impact on him, distracted him terribly, and led to the miscommunication with Alex Smith. That's my belief.
Jagodzinski was employed under Jim Mora in Atlanta. He had to figure that Jim would be setting up a staff and a job would be available.
Greg Knapp got the OC gig pretty much during the same timeframe he gambled with the Jets.
I agree, to some extent, that he gambled and lost, but he sure isn't helping his cred with future suitors by being so cavalier about geting employment in the NFL again.
For his sake he better succeed, my guess is he's done at the college level.
