Today is the day that I'll try to become a photon.
There is so much going on today at the NFL scouting combine, I'll need to be at least two places at once. At 7 a.m. (PT), Mike Singletary takes the podium to answer questions. He'll be followed 15 minutes later by GM Scot McCloughan.
Then, at various times throughout the day, the room will be filled with draft-eligible quarterbacks, wide receivers and running backs. I wish I could take it all in, but that will be nearly impossible.
Meanwhile, the league's certified agents will be meeting, too.
Again, let me know what interests you, and I'll try to be several places at once.

Yesterday, I was almost several places at once, as I narrowly avoided getting splattered on the asphalt a block from Lucas Oil Stadium. Although I prefer to walk, it's just way too cold and dangerous out there. Paul Kuharsky was kind enough to be my chauffeur this morning on the eight-block journey to the hub of the combine activities.

I would just like to know what Wideouts and Running Backs seem to impress. I believe the 9ers will be in the hunt for a RB in the 3rd or 4th.And Nate Davis from Ball St. to me is an interesting prospect at QB. any info on that would be great.
I guess I'm really interested in the QB's and RB's that may be available to the Niners in the mid rounds. Not necessarily players like, Sanchez or Stafford, Moreno or Wells, but more or less the next tier.

Can you post pictures of the Combine?

Our GM was on Sirius Satellite Radio this morning. Listening to his responses about the players they want to go after, I read between the lines and came to a conclusion that we will be taking a pass rusher in the first round. Or at least a pass rusher is our top priority.

I figured that was the case before the season ended. That's why I have my eye on Brian Orakpo. If not Orakpo then one of the Tackles, Oher or Smith out of Baylor.
Matt,
1) anything McSing say in regards to the QB position (esp. in terms of drafting a third-string)
2) Later Round RBs like Rashad Jennings
3) Later Round WRs like Brandon Gibson or Ramses Barden.
Scott seems like he wants to pick up OL in FA or later in the first day of the draft, but that he is real strong on using our top pick to grab one of the rare pass rushers available. He mentioned that he wants to draft a pass rusher and not get one in FA.

MM...two places at once? That would be an electron.
Matt,
Do you think the 49ers will look closely at Quinn Johnson, FB out of LSU? He had been a beast of a fullback and would be available in the late rounds. He is 6'2'' 245.
If you're going to discuss quantum mechanics, you can't be signing on as Jim Druckenmiller. That would be the Tractor Tow section. And you're wrong. Actually, neither a proton nor an electron can be in two different places at once. Only God can do that. Or, I sometimes suspect, my probation officer.
I see Skeebers leaves inane coments here as well . . . Hyuk.

Dominic, I don;t have Sirius radio, so thanks for the info. However, Orakpo is dropping down the draft list as he tailed off pretty badly lat year, I'd be more than happy if they could get Everette Brown from FSU. Or Raji . . .

hi matt
i hope you are enjoying yourself.any hope for san fran to get pat white?thank you
Hey Matt,
Can you keep an eye out for FULLbacks that might fit Sing's power run style. The kid from Navy in particular - Kettani. Also Brannan Southerland from Georgia and Jorvorskie Lane from Tex A&M. i know this position is more likely to be filled in FA with the amount of good fullbacks available this year, but these kids tend to go later in the draft and with the compensatory picks they could be an option. I guess everybody is pretty much an option.
One more RB - Andre Brown from NC State. He had a good senior bowl, is projected in the 4th-5th round and is a biggger back at 225lbs. Is he a singletary type guy? Does he have the hunger?
Thanks Matt,
RBs of interest?
Shonn Greene Iowa / Tony Fiammetta Syracuse?
Draft whatever position isn't shopped for in FA early.
If we go OT in FA, NT/DE-OLB makes sense at 10.
If Sammie Lee Hill is as athletic as his bio suggests, he might be a great NT option in Rd3/4. The serious piece of the Draft process is the evaluation to Draft grade ranking. Good teams get their guys in the order they expect to see them. The beauty is in the Scouting.
Heard Mayock speaking about the DE from GT, tons of talent and nearly invisible on game tape?
Same things concern a novice like myself because we can't view game tape. We're fans with blinders on for the most part.
Still fun to play along.
