It's just a uniform change, right? They're not tweaking the logo again, are they?

I've been to this event a few times and it is always fun. The one thing I find a little odd about this particular event is announcing it on a Friday and then making us wait until Monday to sign up for it. It has customarily been announced and the sign ups commenced at the same time.

When will the jerseys go on sale? Also, what's a trackback? And, if you could possibly give us any details you might be able to find about the new uniforms/logo through random conversations with players coaches we'd love to hear them.

Thanks Matt

I've heard from a few sports shops that they can order the jersey's starting April 20th. Don't know if they will get pictures by then. Everything I've seen is that it is very similar to the throwbacks that they have worn the last few years with maybe a few small differences. But the colors are supposed to be very similar to the cherry red/tan that the teams of the 80's wore.

Hey Matt,

SI.com has an article about how its a bad idea for the Browns to shop Braylon Edwards. Heard anything to say the Niners might be interested?

i thought we were going back to the old school uniforms.......

Tan? More like Vegas Gold!! I love the 9ers colors. Best looking uni's on the greens.

Yes sir. Jerseys will be BayFresh

Speaking of Uni's, is this the 1st year QB's start wearing dress's? It's gonna be two hand touch here pretty soon on the QB. Women are gonna be able to play the game if the rules keep changing like they are at the rate. And then it will be two hand touch for everyone. That's when the UFL will take over.

ESPN ? Why would they not broadcast NFLN and support the league station? And, Mayock is far superior to Kiper!

I know it is the fashionable thing to say, that it is becoming flag football, but every year people say the same things. They got rid of the clothesline, then the headslap, then DBs couldn't jam past 5 yards, then you couldn't lead with your helmet, etc, and the NFL is more popular now then ever. Bottom line, the NFL is still a gladiator-type sport, and a little protection from having guys die when they are in their 40s isn't too much to ask. Not hitting a guy in the knee or hitting a defenseless receiver is too strict? Come on.

If i am rushing the passer and i get hit or miss my tackle, I need to do everything in my power to keep going after the QB. (including a quick drive at the QB from the ground, or tripping him with my hands as he runs by)

Asking players to stand up and then resume the persuit is weak.

Toby I agree with you on most of your points. But it has gone to far. The game is physical and intimidation and knocking somebody out has been apart of the game from the very beginning. You know it, I know it! Blowing somebody up on a team that I is in my division and I know that without that guy they are mediocre at best. I am giving him the best legal shot I can to put him out of the game. That is as part of the game as cleat marks on your chest!

I've heard that the new (old) uniform is the one shown on the right in this image.

Nope. A reader of Samuel Lam's blogs at the Examiner - not the 49ers - created that photo illustration, and Samuel posted it with his blog on March 5. Good intentions, but still too much of a diversion from the classic look.

I still think that outside of narrowing the pant stripes and making the gold pants match the helmets - and maybe removing the black outline from the "SF" on the helmet decal - the Niners will leave the rest of the classic uni as is.

I certainly hope they leave out the dark outlining which has been creeping into 49er gear -Crimson and Gold forever!

Hope they go back to the classic old logo.
The apants were khaki and not gold as far as I remember.

Khaki? Vegas Gold Baby!

The "khaki" pants were a futile 1970s attempt to duplicate the color of the 49ers' helmets - NFL teams didn't start using "bright nylon" until the early 1980s. You can see this in the pants of the Cowboys, Raiders and other teams with metallic helmets. These teams actually had "shiny" pants up until the early 1970s - including the Niners. There's a great Sports Illustrated cover photo of John Brodie that shows what I'm talking about.

The pants worn by the Niners against Seattle and Washington actually look good, more gold than "khaki." All they need to do now is make the red/white stripes narrower - the "wide" look is too 1970s. Check out the Colts, Bears and Packers for an example of what the pant stripes should look like.

I actually LOVE the 80's wide stripes on the pants, so different than any other team, just leave out any dark outlining like Hightop was saying. Bring back the old school championship uni in its full classic form!
