Following the 49ers' 23-10 victory over the Seahawks on Sunday, we put together this video recap of the game. John Burgess, a fantastic photographer at The Press Democrat, supplied the action shots and the hard work behind the scenes to make it happen. We're going to try to do this after every 49ers' home game. Please check it out and let us know what you think.

awesome job matt! i look forward to more videos and pics of the game!!

This is great stuff, Matt. Getting to hear and see your analysis is a nice complement to your writing. I hope you're able to continue with it.

I am not able to access the video. I get the following error message.

500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

I can't access it either and get the same message

I got the same error message as 49ertime and Torchman. I can't access it.

Matt,

I accessed the link again - actually through your Twitter page - and this time it worked. I really like the Video Recap. Great work by you and your colleague. Please keep it up.

Very cool Matt. You're going to Comcast and ESPN a run for their money!

Matt: Sorry, but I would rather you give us more written in dept information about the team and the recent game etc, than a video that doesn't show us anythjing we had not already seen.

I tried the link again and it worked this time, so maybe it is fixed?

Any how, I believe that it might be more awesome to have a complete montage of photos, going from the game while you mostly fade to the role of narrator. Perhaps something particularly for part 2 more like a slideshow of pivotal / awesome moments i the game... how cool would it have been to see a few more pictures of the O-line particularly if there was a good block or hit to be included.

Not that your mug isn't lovely, but I was hoping for video highlights along with your voiceover. Don't know if that's allowed.

Niiiiiice, great job MM. Not to sound greedy, but why just home games?

Matt, it is nice to see a picture when you are not making faces. It did not work on the PD site but it did from your facebook site.

Nice recap of the game, my only comment is work on that lighting, more face is more better!

Great job Matt, thanks for all the great work!!!!!

hard to see value in this without video from the game

Hey Matt great work... we as fans cant get enough of the 49ers and you have become our ambassador of KUAN (niner football)

thank and go niners

Not hating on MM or anything but if you guys watch any vids from the official website, NFL.com, or ESPN then this video is pretty lackluster and useless. But this blog is head and shoulders above the rest, keep up the good work. 1.Maiocco 2.Barrows 3.Sando and I have to admit that I loathe Kevin Lynch..that man is delusional in philosophy and only good for his analysis on individual performances along offensive and defensive lines.

Matt- You have the most in depth and consistent coverage of the 49ers by far. However this video wasn't what I was hoping for. It was more of a slideshow recap of information you've already posted. I think with a little tweaking you could really be on to something here (match up game highlights with post game interviews...) Thanks for all of your hard work.

great vid matt. thank you for all your hard work. i've been readin your blog regularly for the last 2 years. when 49ers news hits, your usually the 1st to report it. i will be a fan of this blog as long as you continue to write for it. it's nice to see the 9ers open up 2-0 as this is def different than our past 2-0, and 2-1 teams. We had the lambs both of those years this year we start it by beatin our 2 biggest rivals. Great start!

I thought it would show a photo and then your voiceover would say, "This is David Baas' block on the DT and here we see Joe Staley setting the wall, and you can see the daylight that Gore had to run through..."

Instead it was like Sportcenter duing the slideshow era.

Question: Not to sound greedy, but why just home games?

My response: It'll be just for home games because photographer John Burgess does not travel to road games, and it's not something I can do solo.

Thank you to everyone for watching the video/slide show and giving your thoughts on our new toy. --Matt M.

Matt,
Glad to see your expansion. I appreciate your courage into moving into a new medium. Keep us informed in as many forms as possible.
Congratulations

Matt, from a long-time TV news videographer: if you go to mid-field on the opposite sideline (the Niners side), you can still get the goal post and video board in the background of your stand-up, and the sun will be on your whole face. Also, since the video is a collection of still pics, you may want the shooter to keep the camera steady on you instead of moving it around "MTV style".

Purely professional courtesy. I really liked the video.

Matt,

Love your writing coverage, I check in everyday. Was excited for the video -- would like to see more breakdown analysis, similar to your recent post "Recap of Week 2 Performances" where you so articulately dissected Gore's TD run.

Are you not able to use actual video because of NFL licensing?

Thanks again for your dedication and hard work!

Let us remember, this video is for the PD web site and works for facebook as well. All the blog info will continue as before.

Great work! You guys continue to step it up. I like the video quality and the stop action works pretty well.

My only suggestion is to have more action shots, and less video of you talking. ;)

that was great Matt, i really look forward to getting the video summary of the game from the press democrat from now on.
the photography was excellent. will you be doing this for away games also?

...watching the colts/dolphins last night AGAIN proves this is a QB driven league...

they had the ball for less than 15 minutes compared to the dolphins 40 mins......and won

the problem with Coach sing philosophy is.....you just cant depend on the run every game - we saw the dolphins do that last night

there has to be games where you have to face reality and use your QB to win - IT IS JUST COMMON SENSE

And i understand Coach has no confidence in S.Hill leading the attack but he needs to come up with a solution to this problem....

last night game was a clear example of what a QB can do to you compared to what a RB can do to you.

S.Hill is not even in the same level as pennigton, to expect him to win a game with his arm is day dreaming...

The answers are right there in front of us, the stubbornness not to change when we face a difficult reality is what has been hurting this franchise for a long time...

We have been PATCHING the problem hoping some miracle/luck will change our failing direction when we know for sure it is the players that make the plays. And when we dont have this players on the field, it is obvious we lose. For some reason this organiozation has refused to see this in the last years....

Currently we have talented young receiver whose growth is being stunted because of a QB who believes more in playing safe than taking legitimate chances...

One thing for sure is we all know we are not in the same level as good teams in this league - even with a top 5 defense ....and still refuse to make the change necessary to be better.

the truth is ..."You were not born a winner, and you were not born a loser. You are what you make yourself to be.”

And we are not a playoff team with Hill at QB - its that simple.

And not to develop and let our young QB's lead, knowing they have a better arm, huge upside for the future is just plain idiotic.

Oneniner, I'd take Hill over Pennington any day. But using last night's game as a standard is pushing it. The fact is, Miami had that game won if they don't allow that 48yd TD. Miami played the game the best suited for them and it went down to the last play. That's all you can ask. You win some, you lose some. Getting into a shoot out with Manning is asking to get whipped bad. Nobody would argue a great QB can beat you, but like a lot of teams, we don't have a great QB and currently there are none on the roster for this year. Maybe Nate for next, who knows? But this year is this year and we can get to the playoffs with Hill. It all depends on the defense. If Miami had our defense, they would have won that game. Heck, if they had Gore, they'd have won that game.

...You just made my point .....

"The fact is, Miami had that game won if they don't allow that 48yd TD"

....Well my friend a 48 yrd td pass does not just fall from the sky it is thrown by someone...

We dont have that capability with Hill at QB - WE ALL KNOW THIS

But we do with A.Smith or Davis at QB.....WE ALL KNOW THIS

Why keep getting stuck in a loser play safe mentality instead of going with a winner play aggresive mentality...

One more thing, Oneniner. I like your posts, generally. They're not "hooray for Matt" or "Niners suck" and can be incisive. However, you keep acting like there is a QB on the roster who is better than Hill and somehow Singletary has decided not to play him. Obviously, that's ridiculous. Hill is playing because no one beat him out. Case closed. For this year. To beat on Hill every day serves no purpose and is beneath the high standards of intelligent blogging that you have previously established for yourself. Sort of.

..ok..first of all defending Hill a grown man paid millions of dollars on a blog should be beneath anyones standard........not sure why anyone gets pissed reading critiscm of him

(maybe it is the feminization of grown Men in this country)

I am not calling him terrible names or making up stuff about him...

I have criticsed him for one reason only - HIS PLAY ON THE FIELD

I believe as a FAN i have a right to do that, especially a niner fan.

Now to the real issue - Do i think we have a better QB than Hill on the roster - OF COURSE YES

actually 2 of them - A.Smith and N.Davis

THAT IS MY OPINION

...now there is nothing wrong with having that opinion

...there is something wrong with those that try to quiet that opinion....

to those that try countering my point with his limited winning record - under 15 starts....you know your point does not hold water because you keep repeating it over and over .....and still that hasnt removed the doubt we all have about Hill.

there are flaws that just cant be ignored....and 9-3 record or playing safe - are not enough to quench those flaws...

dont ask me - ask the owner and the GM - they know he his not the one

And my OPINION is that yours, although certainly having substance given Hill's limited natural ability, is becoming troll-like in its redundancy, as though the only thing that interests you in the games is Hill's flaws. This is not rational observation, nor is dragging in girl references. Nor is it intelligent to suggest that two QBs who had all off season and TC to unseat Hill and failed to do so, should nevertheless be starting ahead of him. These are real games now, not TC. Smith and Davis will have their chance next year, perhaps. If you read my posts previous to Hill being named starter, you will remember I clearly was not enamored of Hill nor impressed unduly by his winning record. And I am not sold on him now, either. Barring an amazing Montana-like performance this year, I am sure QB will be a position NEXT year that we seek to upgrade. But the season is underway now and we have what we have. So far, so good. We'll see how far it takes us. If you insist on pointing out Hill's flaws all year long, so be it, but you'll lose my interest if that matters to you. I expect more substantial posts from you, so don't let me down.

You continue to espouse nonsense. Your blubbering bloveating is nauseating. Please be a man and honor the bet you lost and vacate this blog for the season.

Yes, you have the right to express your point, but to say the same stuff over and over and OVER and over is getting hilariously old. Skeebers is being nice. To me, your opinion often sounds like you talk out of your butt cheeks. I feel sorry for the PD website guys who have to see all this junk everyday.

Go have a coke and smile!

Hill 9-3 past 12 starts
Brees(MVP QB AORN)7-5
McNabb 8-3-1
Rivers 6-6

This should put an end to the insufferable disrespect of Mr. Hill.

...yaaawwwn...

Putting S.Hill in the same category as brees, mcnabb, rivers - demonstrates again your consistent showing of how folly you are.....

Nice video recap. Thanks Matt and John.

It’s Papa Murphy’s Touchdown Tuesday! The 49ers scored 2 touchdowns (thanks to GORE) on Sunday, so go into any Bay Area Papa Murphy’s for $2 off your pizza today!

To disregard facts is the definition of folly. You are a welcher. I'm sure your father is proud to have a son who dishonors his name by making bets with no intention of honoring them. Please leave this blog for the year as agreed.

I would like to disagree with some of my fellow posters about including actual in game video. (while i am not against video per se) I think there is something to be gained from actual still pictures, paricularly if they are pictures of situations right after or right before a major impact, or hit. A still picture can convey a very different exprience than a video. Did he get any pictures of patrick willis laying a hit on Hasselback? Or any of the other big hits that day? (I would think O-line and D-line battles would be a ripe area for some bone jarring action shots)In any event just wanted to add my 2 cents, keep up the good work.

...very classy dude....now we are talking about family....lol.....very classy....:)

Frank Gore was nominated as FedEx's "Ground Player of the Week." You can vote for him by clicking this link!

http://www.nfl.com/partner?partnerType=players-air-and-ground

....i bet you thought that would make me respond uncivilized...:)

...look at your sorry self...i turned you into a hate monger - insulting other people's family online...

...am glad i brought the evil out in you...

mission accomplished...:)

...i believe this is the first time anyone ever mentioned some else's family....

...wow..i didnt know i was that good at this...

....you just got branded - everytime people see your name they will recall how low you were to referencing other people's family.....making my point how folly you are.....

now do us a favor and banish yourself from the blog....lol.....

got you - "wink wink"

"....Well my friend a 48 yrd td pass does not just fall from the sky it is thrown by someone..."

- Peyton Manning to be exact and last I looked he isn't behind Hill on our depth chart.

Everybody gets that you are not a fan of Hill and belaboring the point on every single topic MM posts is just noise. Let it go and at least save the whining for the games that Shaun Hill actually costs us a victory. If you look at the 3 losses of the 9-3 he is at, he did a pretty good job in those as well (AZ was poor late game management in which the sideline was more to blame, he had over 300yds passing against Dallas in a game we kicked too many fg's early, etc.). We are still building and everyone knows that Hill isn't the next Montana, but he is giving us wins and is the most capable on our roster with handling this offense in its current state.

Matt:

Thanks for the video recap.

Everyone else:

Please don't feed the trolls.

Is there a Docter in the house? Please do not walk, run to the nearest therapist and check yourself in. Do not try to avoid the fact that you placed a bet with me on this blog stating that SF would lose to AZ and the loser would vacate the blog for the season. You lost, you are a welcher and a looossserrr.

I will give you credit for one thing, no matter the topic of the blog; you somehow turn it into a QB discussion. Bravo. You should use MM's forum so I, and others, can rip you over there instead of in an off-topic discussion. ;)

Matt any chance the blog could get an ignore feature in the comments section? Seems like some of the stuff is getting out of hand.

.....i know dude - you wish you could delete it....lmao

i have to be honest i do try getting sum of you to show your true character...

your character is what you are in the dark, ...

your character is like a tree and reputation like its shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing........

To exercise good character daily is to be morally fit for life.

i guess we now know that Razoreater is not morally fit for life......thks to oneniner..:)

...i guess u just started watching the nfl...

die-hard football guys like me dont get excited about a 2-0 record, we know how we got the 2-0 and it had nothing to do with S.Hill

...its the defense....we are destroying people....at least 5 seagrlz players were hurt last sunday....

we are winning because we are being physical....

so until S.Hill shows me something to prove me wrong....i am on his tail

...excellent, who is John Burgess?..I've seen his photos, did he come from a National syndicate?...The PD should be overjoyed in having two talents of your caliber. We're season ticket holders and sincerely enjoy your commentary and pictures.

"...i guess u just started watching the nfl..."
and there is final proof enough to me that you are nothing but a troll. I've seen support for you so I gave some benefit of the doubt but I now have to guess that the majority of those are just your alter egos. You respond to common sense with insults and non-sense arguments that have absolutely no context with what was stated. That = troll and I recommend that everyone follow barley and others advice... don't feed the troll. I apologize to everyone for my being gullible enough to finally get reeled in.

ps. Go ahead and insult away again in as many personalities as you feel like conjuring up... it will only prove how much of a troll you are.

Oneniner are you a man of GOD!!! what is all this BS about judging peoples character on a sport blog!!! I have to say many of your comments are just weird and not related to the topic of discussion!!!!

Oneniner!!! ENOUGH!!!!! You little pleeb shut your mouth and listen to for a second!!

Yes there are QB's that are special, Montana's, Yoiung's, Peyton, and YES Hill isnt one of those QB's on THAT level.

But you are full of it if you think we have a QB on our roster that has the abilities of a top tier QB.

Take ANY of our 3 QB's and pull manning from that game last night and put them in and I would put my money on Hill to get it done. But the reality is none of them would have probably won it.

You can not go into a 5 and dime and put a nickle into a gumball machine and poof you have a Peyton manning on your team.

Get over it this isnt the 80's there is no Montana with a Steve Young behind him on the roster!!!

I am done here...once the trolls take over a blog it's time to walk away.

It's called Facebook, and MM's page and presence facilitates a higher level of NFL thought and discussion – compared to the occasional periods of blogging turrets that happens here. Just mho.

There are however a handful of bloggers here who still keep me around.

Matt, pretty cool video. You will have to get one of those high end video phones for the away games to satisfy your hungry fans.

I believe I saw one comment about going away from in-depth coverage and taking the easy way out with video. My response would be, no way! I see this as just another vehicle for communications.

I would actually challenge you to spend five minutes to record a half time video FROM THE PRESS BOX and post at the start of the third qtr.... I know I know, you want to use the restroom, get a beer, eat a dog, mingle with your peers... but Matt, you've already let the genie out of the bottle.

Three Wishes:
1. Record half time video from Press box, post in near real-time
2. Catch Jets and Cowboys in tampering and receive draft picks
3. Matt writes a post concerning the integrity of blog comments

NOW FOR SOME FACTS:
Of the 9-3 record Shaun Hill has as a starter...

5 of them were won by him and are what are considered comebacks late in the game.

There was only 1 game last year in miami with high winds where he had a chance to comeback but failed. I prefer to think the Def backs failed in that game with the two long Td's they gave up.

ALL his other starts were either us getting blown out or us having the lead the whole game

You could say he blew the arizona comeback last year but martz/refs were the ones who made that call and blew it. Shaun merely drove us down and put us in the position to win.

Shauns comebacks:
SF vs TB 2007 13 - 7 at half, came out and scored 10 in the 2nd to win it

SF vs Jets 2008 10 points in 4th to get a win...
From NFL.com's recap
"Since becoming the 49ers starting quarterback in Week 10, Shaun Hill has played extremely well and led the team to a 3-2 record. He continued his run of success with 285 passing yards and two touchdowns against the Jets."

SF vs STL 2008 Remember the one we almost lost and Hill to
From Nfl.com's recap
"The 49ers contemplated benching quarterback Shaun Hill in favor of backup J.T. O'Sullivan in the fourth quarter. Hill had thrown three interceptions earlier in the game. The coaches stuck with Hill and he responded with two touchdown passes to rally the 49ers."

SF vs WAS 2008 "He deftly led the game winning drive...."
From Nfl.com's recap
"49ers QB Shaun Hill overcame a couple of rough patches and played his best down the stretch. He deftly led the winning drive and was 12-of-16 for 163 yards and a touchdown in the fourth quarter."

SF vs ARI 2009
As if you dont remember his game winning drive where he threw all but 2 of the downs!!!!!

Man from the above it looks like Hill cant lead comebacks and he sucks.....

Did you guys hear the Singletary interview on the Scott Van Pelt show? I love hearing him talk, I see why our troops respond to him like they do.

If you find a link post it I would love to hear it

...you are late to the party - dude

we already discussed the wins and losses - and nobody disputed the facts that S.Hill is nothing but a Backup QB...

one thing i do want to point out is...with those numbers you just mention ..NO OWNER IN THE NFL WOULD TRADE FOR S.HILL or sign him to a big contract if he were to be released by the niners.....

What that shows is S.Hill inability to say "SHOW ME THE MONEY".....even with that record you keep going back on......so obviously the record is irrelevant

and we all know it is about the $$$ - if you are commanding $$$ you are nothing in the NFL....

Brekkon,

You're a smart person, so don't even waste your breathe. You know oneniner does not understand facts. The fact that Hill is helping us win right now. I'm an Alex Smith fan but I understand that it would be unfair to Hill if he was taken out because he has shown he can win.

As far as the bet goes that oneniner made to leave the blog if 49ers lost the first game. Oneniner conveniently keeps failing to address/honor that bet.

So everyone just save your breathe and don't feed the troll.

What do you even make any sense half the time?????

What does $$$$ have to do with anything I said.

Your to daft to even acknowledge. I am done even reading your rhetoric....

"It’s Papa Murphy’s Touchdown Tuesday! The 49ers scored 2 touchdowns (thanks to GORE) on Sunday, so go into any Bay Area Papa Murphy’s for $2 off your pizza today!"

We have a first, something of value finally comes through.

As for the rest of the posts? I'm proud of myself. I'm learning to bypass, especially the ones that go and on.

numberonefan: too true

...the reason most of you care is because you know i am saying the truth....

and most of believe S.Hill will be benched after we lose a couple of games ..(future thks to McGM and the yorks)........u know thisss....:)

.its ok - i feel your pain.....not to worry ...once A.Smith gets back on the field we can continue moving forward to the promise land....

I'm really tired of Oneniner's nonsense here too. Constant immature mancrush trolling over Alex Smith, and bitter sniping at the guy who is 8-2 as the 49ers' starting QB. Its the biggest reason I don't contribute more here. Just not worth my time. I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed man.

I am just going to ignore him. Best if I dont even read his posts anymore. They are full of nonsense and irrational thought so no more reading them.

49ers are getting respect for the first time in 7 years or so. Many of the NFL power rankings have the 49ers at 11th overall and 6th in NFC. ...I would just love to see a "statement win" this Sunday. A solid, dominating performance would be nice.

....yea i heard ESPN radio saying the 49ers are back.....

feels good to hear that....

11th overall is not bad at all.....

The true GPS game could be the Atlanta game in a few weeks. It's a home game against one of the perceived NFC heavyweights.

....i think the vikings game is really key...

we get to play a team who some picked as superbowl contenders in their house (dome)

....defense has been consistent 2 weeks in a row...if they play well against favre/peterson....i believe the rest of the pundits will get on board....

For those few fans who for some strange reason don't already appreciate the fine QB we now have running the show...

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/09/22/SPTJ19QBHS.DTL

Hopefully we get the RT situation ironed out and hill stays healthy and we never need to see the current backup in a game, ever again !

...Hill was about 73% completion rate passing last week and had a couple of great drives that were mostly Hill passing, that ran the clock(one almost 10 min and another almost 9). And let's not forget that 50 yard TD pass in week 1,that could easily be compared to the one by Manning on Monday night.
We have won two games so far and if you look at the stats,we have passed MORE than we have run ! In the 1st game we passed 58% of the time. Over two games I think it is 57 pass to 54 run.
And of course Hill was very close to his career average of about a 90 QB rating in both the games this year.
And as Sing said, they are just getting started and Raye and Hill and the other players are just getting in synch and Raye is still getting to know which players do what things best in his offense.
We all know that when a new offensive system is being installed,it is usually mid season at the earliest that the offense starts to roll.

And Matt...I heard your phrase GPS game ,used at least 3 times this week on tv and radio ! What a trend setter !

"Don't get all hot and bothered over the Vikes yet, not after beating two of the league's three worst teams so far — and trailing at halftime against both teams."

I think we will win this one.

Thanks Matt, keep up the good work!! 3 simple questions:

Question 1: What would our GPS be if we are able to run the ball against the number one rush defense for the last 3 years?

Question 2: If hill wins this one, could we ban a certain troll from the blog?

Question 3: What are the chances on you considering the "bets" made here legally binding?

Again thanks for your hard work and dedication!

I used to get a kick out of reading oneniner's blathering. Now, I quickly skip past his posts since they are always saying the same things: fill-in-the-blank-quarterback sucks more than Alex Smith, Singletary is an idiot, MM is terrible, and the 49ers are in trouble. Don't thank me, but I've just saved minutes from your day and valuable brain cells that would have been wasted on oneniner.

Matt, as a fan from way outside the Bay area, I really appreciate all the new multi-media additions. Keep up the good work!

..:)......never wrote Sing was an idiot or MM is terrible.....

.....stop wasting brain cells
