It's a done deal.
The 49ers have announced they have reached a six-year contract with rookie receiver Michael Crabtree, ending a contract impasse on its 72nd day. Crabtree was the No. 10 overall pick in the draft.
He is expected to be on the practice field this morning. Let's see if the guy can play a little football.
More details to come after I wake up. The 49ers have a while to make a roster move to create room on the 53-man roster for Crabtree. I'll have that news a little later.
Oh, heck, while I have your attention, I might as well post the link to my 49ers video/photo recap from the Rams game. Just trying to get some "hits" on that baby.

Great journalism MM. Again, you make Woodward and Bernstein proud. You were on this like bees to honey, Play ball!!!
I'm in Japan today so I guess the timezone difference gives me first dibs on a response. Pretty painful way to get first...
Anyway. I am curious. 6 years is a long deal for a rookie. Is this the way that the 49ers can pay him more up front but also say they stayed to the #9 slot on a $/year basis? I can't wait for the details.
Now the questions for you Matt...will Crabtree make a difference this year? And how many games until his first TD catch? :)
Another Matt
Sorry dukeblue........the old guy in C town beat you to it. Deatils will be interesting.
Way to stick to your guns niners. Parker likes short deals, the sixth year makes up for time lost this year. This also helps him save face by getting more money, but less per year than Raji. Turn to Mike and Mike talking about it now.
The sixth year is probably a ridiculous number to make the deal look inflated. If this kid proves to have the talent to stick around that long then he will no doubt be renegotiated before the end of his deal anyway..and if not then in essence it is a 5 year deal. Anyways, as always MM you are on top of it..just saw this on Sportscenter when I woke up and you already had it posted. At least there are no more questions coming about when he can be traded, him being injured, not wanting to play for the 9ers, and where he would go in next year's draft. ready to see him prove the label of best reciever in the draft and justify his agent's decision to hold him out.
Funny Mike and Mike are presented by Subway.
Great news. Thank you, football gods. Life is good. Get some sleep Matt.
Matt, he would have stopped running if you had a sandwich. Thanks for helping keep us sane through the process.
I wonder if Madden taking him off the online roster helped speed this process. That had to be a blow to his ego. Oh well, I can use him again now. Hurry up EA
I hope whoever gets cut, finds a job. Thank you for your service as a 49er.
Please let it be Spurlock who gets the axe!! We already released Dobson Collins off the PS so just put Spurlock in his place
Great job Matt! You pretty much nailed what was going on the entire way.
Question:
Do you feel the 49ers success to start the year gave them a significant leverage advantage?
I can't see this deal getting done if the 49ers are 1 - 3.
Thanks Matt,
Boz
Maybe they will cut a big contract draft pick that has been a bust?? Buh bye Alex?????
Andrew Brandt of the NFP wrote yesterday that the league may give us a roster exemption when Crabs is signed....No need to cut anyone yet, if true.
I'm just glad this distraction has ended. I doubt the guy makes a contribution this year but at least his holdout isn't the only thing 49er related being discussed by the sports media nationally.
Looking ahead, Matt, can Crab and Morgan be on the field at the same time. They both play the same position, right? How's that going to work out?
I hope they find a job too. Alot of times the marginal players on the practice squad or at the bottom of the roster are the guys who are even more passionate about the game than the guys with elite God given talent who take everything for granted. When these guys are cut it can be the end of a life long dream. Hanging up the cleats for the last time, knowing you'll probably never play again is a life changing experience which can be extremely difficult to handle.
Morgan, B-Jones & Battle can play all 3 WR spots. The long term plan is likely Crabs at SE, B-Jones at FL & Morgan in the slot, with the latter pair interchangeable (depending on playing form & Raye's emphasis). J-Hill & Zeigler round out the depth. Battle & Bruce will be UFAs & aren't priorities to re-sign.
Matt I had to log on to tell you thank you for all your hard work. You are the best THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Matt, you beat everyone to the punch. I know there's a third string QB on the roster who will become very well aquainted with Mr. Crabtree in the not too distant future.
They don't need to cut anyone just yet. They can get a two-week roster exemption. I'm quite sure Matt knows this, but he's tired.
I'm guessing Spurlock is the odd-man out. He's not needed now as a receiver and they've been unable to make his taser/wildcat plays work.
Jason Hill might volunteer himself, though, because this means he'll probably never see the field.
Also-- while it appears to be a 6 year deal, it's really more like 4 1/2.
He probably won't be effective until the second half of this year, at the earliest.
The 6th year only activates if Crabtree doesn't have two probowl-caliber seasons out of the first four years of the contract.
If he doesn't manage that, the 49ers get him back for a 6th for $4m.
MM, thank you for your excellent journalism. I woke up and got the news as always from Press Democrat!
Lets play ball, I hope Mr. Crabtree will get some extra practice with S Hill during the bye week!
Crabtree is an idiot. He's locked in for six AND I bet the end money is junk, just like Smith's was, and will allow the 49ers to hack his butt if he doesn't pan out.
In the meantime, he generated huge amounts of ill-will that will hold back many (not all to be fair) of his marketing opportunities. In the long run, he's probably a net loser just from holding out.
However, he's also blown his rookie buzz. Something that, had he capitalized on with a strong season, could have helped catapult him into the marketing elite. Instead... He's going to spend a lot of time on the bench and create bupkis for buzz.
In the NFL, out-of-sight turns rapidly to out-of-mind. This, again, will hurt his endorsement ability. It won't get rid of all of them. But he's not likely to have the same national marketability as other top rookies.
I'm in Prague...so this is all happening in the middle of the day.
Is it just a coincidence that the 49ers sign Crabtree and then almost immediately it's reported that the Jets traded for Braylon Edwards (his Lebron comments not withstanding)?
How will this impact, if at all, the Niners tampering case against Jets?
Pretty funny his first game will probably be against the Texans in Texas
Thanks MM. You're a true master at yer craft brotha! Glad its finally over.
I will be there at Reliant Park!!!!
Not wearing a Cratree Jersey though...he has to earn it first!
Michael Crabtree, welcome to the 49ers, better late than never.
Oh my.... Barylon Edwards just got traded to the Jets. Couldn't get our receiver any longer. What a coincidence you tampering savages.
He won't have two probowl years in this offense. Sounds like a six year deal to me!
...Finally....its over....
Now A.smith can build sum chemistry with him during practice.....
mc. hammer??.....that was funny....
...."the early talk in league circles is that the extended holdout in which 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree engaged gained nothing for the player."
Braylon Edwards to NYJ? The Jets wanted to trade away picks before the NFL takes them away. Curious timing, yeah.
I know this is highly unlikely but wouldn't it be great if the Jets traded their 3rd rounder for Edwards and then the league punishes them by transferring their 3rd rounder to the 9ers. Would that mean we would get Edwards or would that trade be voided.
Whatever the case is, I've wanted Edwards ever since we drafted Smith.
Yes oneniner Smith. I'm sick of people saying we have a better chance for a Superbowl with Smith. The guy down the street from me has a monster arm and is good size, maybe he can be our QB of the future. SMITH SUCKS, bad word to use, it's the morning and I'm pissed about the Jets trade.
Glad we got Crabtree, wish we were involved in some trade for Edwards, even with his drops. I still think the Jets should be punished.
Matt, great reporting as always. I was following on Twitter al long as I could had to hit the bed (east coast time).
If there is a SI or ESPN mag story on Crabtree you definitly need to get quote in there. You have been all over this from day one.
Thanks.
GO NINERS!!!
The Jet's trade for Edwards is very incriminating. It will be interesting to see if the NFL is willing to apply its tampering rules to a New York team, like it did against the 49ers!
I don't believe for a second that it's coincidence that the Jets pull the trigger on Edwards just moments after Crabtree is off the market.
Also, Deion was right on about this deal, so we'd have to assume he was right about two teams sniffing around Crabtree as well...
About Time! Thanks Matt for alll your hard work. Suck it Jets!
How many games until he has more catches/ yards than Hayward-Bey?
I'm thinking Crabtree is back on Madden by Thursday, they do roster updates every week I think... If you noticed, the Niners team ranking is four points higher than it was when the season started-even EA is taking notice of what's going down in the NFC West!
Matt, very nice reporting, and very entertaining to follow you on Twitter yesterday.
Unfortunately, you missed the biggest part of the story. The SUV Crabtree ducked into was being driven by Kate Gosselin, and as part of the contract he's now required to appear on this season's episodes of the new Michael and Kate Plus 8 show.
Well, I think that's the only way this story would have been any more bizarre.
Can't touch this!
Well, its what we've all waited for...The "WE DONT NEED HIM" has now turned to "LET'S SEE WHAT HE CAN DO!" I'm just glad the wait is over.... Now about those tampering accusations........
You know what, all things considered this is pretty interesting timing. I mean this could actually work out for the best considering we have already gone through the division. This time around we should have a whole other dimension that the other teams will have to worry about. When the Cardinals stack the box again we should have legitimate deep threats on both sides (or 3 including the tight end) to be able to throw it up and have someone make a play! It should open up things even more for the running game!
Local guy says the Falcons are going to crush the 9ers this week. His reasons were: 9ers weak running game, predictable offense, average QB at best, and Gore's injury. He said 74 yards for Coffee against the Rams terrible defense is a huge red flag. He also said Atl is better than the 9ers across the board. This guy was someone who set point spreads for awhile. He's right about alot of this stuff. Hope he's wrong in this case.
This is a smart Move for Mike showing he can be the bigger man and signing NOW will allow him to save face - he'll see that the endorsements he will get will make the whole contract thing look rediculous and foolish--- crabtree gear at www.thesparechange.spreadshirt.com

Time to put on the pads and go to work! Let's hope he has stayed in shape. How long do you think it will take him to be up to speed? Week 12?
why are you pissed about the Jets trade?
....its a good thing....it proves they really needed a receiver- so we should get compensated next yr...
next yrs draft is going to be the best.....thank God for McGM
we should at least have 3 starters.....2 in the 1st and 1 highly possible in the second
can you imagine if we make the playoffs this yr and add 3 new talented players to the field in 2010....
we are set to own nfc west division for years.....
Hey Matt,
Thanks for all the news.. Interesting thing with the tampering charges though. Since Edwards was just sent to the Jets for a 3 & 5th round pick,
and also trading their first to move up for Sanchez, they only have a 2,6, 7picks... Interesting b/c if they do lose this tampering case it would probably
give us their 2nd round pick.. CRAZY!!!
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Brandon C-Treihart
YESSSS!! Finally.
Outstanding work Paraage as usual & kudos to Jed, McCloughan for how they handled this whole bizarre ordeal.
If those production incentives are up there but realistic go for the 5 YEARS baby. That will mean he's FOR REAL. If he's legit & coachable & not too much of a diva in his 4th year we try for the extension but if he's still too much of an over greedy egomaniac head case we trade him. You know Sing should keep him in check & he just might have the same effect on Crabtree that he had on VD.
Now this morning at his FIRST practice the players should take Crabtree behind a shed & code red his a** all to hell then ALL WILL BE GOOD. I'm pulling bigtime for this kid & hopefully he pans out to be our legit #1 WR. Alright Crabs lets see what you've got!
Next up..what say you Commish? If he finds the Jets guilty & he awards us even a lower RD pick like say a 5th or 4th RD'er (hopefully higher but doubtful since we now have Crabtree) that could be used as trade up material (or afford us to use one of our other lower RD picks) to move up from the higher of our 1st RD'ers. Hopefully that will be the Carolina one letting us move up a few spots to snag ERIC BERRY while the team we trade with can still get their man.
Again I'm PSYCHED we got this deal done. I'm at peace now. Great job by the FO & HC. AWESOME coverage Matt, thanks for the great work. Great morning & is gonna be a great day. NINERS!!!!!
I am very happy they signed him. He is IMHO the most talented football player in last year's draft. We were fortunate to have him at #10.
Yeah I was shocked when I heard the Niners were giving 2 1/2 in this game, I bet the smart money takes the Falcons w/ the spread. The Niners have to steal some wins outside the division but the Falcons are a legit team, hard to find a more complete offense than the one they have.
One thing in our favor is that Shaun Hill doesn't lose (so far) at home but I might have to take the Falcons w/ the points when I pick games this week.
With Crabtree now signed sealed & delivered coupled with the early success of the 49ers you have to believe that this year is going to be a special year considering all the so called experts picked the Cardinals or the Seahawks winning the division. With Crabtree in the fold now this bodes well for the 49ers & gives them I think a huge emotional boost. I was watching ESPN this morning & Herm Edwards said the 49ers are now the favorites to win the division now for sure. He also said that the 49ers will be cram coursing Crabtree the next 2 weeks in order to have a few packages ready for him when he goes back to Texas when the 49ers face the Texans. How poetic is that?
...Local guy says the Falcons are going to crush the 9ers this week....
Crush? I think the Falcons will be a tough game, but they won 2 games again Miami and Carolina. They're a young team and haven't won on the road yet this year.
They're not considered as good as Minnesota and we almost beat them on the road. I think the problem with this guy is he's using stats to assess the niners, and offensively the stats look worse on paper than the team has played. You can't tell from the stats that the offense is playing extremely conservative early on and then opens up more as the pressure builds (and then goes back to conservative mode, ugh).
I doubt he's seen anything more than highlights. I think the Falcon offense will get very frustrated and that will lead to turnovers, and in the mean time the niner offense will grind, grind, grind until in the 3rd quarter things will start to turn our way and we nail it down in the 4th. How's that for a prediction?
This is great news. We could use another fine down-field blocker for Gore.
Oh wait, Crabtree is supposed to catch balls from Hill?
Glad and hope that the Crabtree circus is finally over. Hope this kid is as good as he thinks and the Niners don't rush things with him especially at home. He'll need a thick skin if he doesn't catch everything thrown his way.
Now maybe the media can focus on a rising team that's won 8 out of it's last 11 games under Singletary, a guy that supposedly didn't have enough experience and know enough x's an o's to be a HC yet. It's nice to have some respectability back.
Well, Scabtree won, and now the Niners will need to prove that their bending over was worth it. They will be trying to force feed him the ball, which will be interesting since he doesn't know the plays.
Great news. The sixth year is what I was hoping for because he probably will not make much of an impact this year.
With all due respect to Morgan, Battle, J. Hill etc etc, Crabtree is in a different league. For the first time since TO left town, Finally we have a playmaker at the WR position.
Great job by McCloughan, Paraag and the entire front ofice team.
Let's hope Carolina's season continues to go down in flames. We may get a top four pick next year. A prime opportunity to grab a stud offensive tackle.
Future looks great. This year looks good too. Go Niners.
I have never picked against the 9ers even when I knew it was a sure thing. I just cant bring myself to do it.
F49er, people in Houston couldn't care less about Crabtree and I'm sure Crabs could care less about Houston. He's from Dallas which has a similar relationship as San Francisco and Los Angeles. I'm sure his entourage will attend his first NFL game but they would attend anywhere that was taking place.
I like Shaun Hill but when I see him pass, it makes me want to grab my Nintendo light zapper gun and shoot those ducks out of the sky.... lol Man, was that TD to Morgan a dying duck or what? LMAOOOOOO
I just got an update on my phone (NFL Mobile Live) that the "Crabtree tampering case will proceed."
This is great news!!! I think it is time to start paying some respect if not just a little to York and MC Hammer!

...lol....cmon take it easy on S.Hill - all he does his "win" games....:)
...i wont lie i was impressed he did throw the ball that far.....and i was the loudest when he threw those touchdown passes.....couldn't help myself
...winning cures all - i guess
I agree, Jed needs to get credit for his hard-nosed approach. Crabtree appears to be signed without breaking slot and the charges against the NY Jets basically say "Don't mess with us"
I'm glad this debacle is finally over -- and that we got a 6th year out of him. Now show us why we're paying you young man!
oneniner, is your heart thawing a little bit? It sure seems that way! If Shaun Hill ever learns to throw a spiral, look out!!!!
What a coincidence. The Jets start working on a trade and finalize a deal with the Browns for Braylon Edwards and suddenly Parker and Co. decide it's time to get this deal done with Crabtree and the 'Niners. What a shock.
Good for the 49ers for not chasing after him like a lovesick teenager. Put on the uni #15 and go catch some TD's
So glad Crabtree is signed. I wonder if there might be a willing trade partner out there with an OL who's contract is expiring at the end of season. We could trade, Baas, Jason Hill, and a 2nd round pick and get a serious upgrade to the line and be a Superbowl contender THIS year.
Would it be impossible to do such a thing and why? Jets just improved their glaring weakness without waiting till next year.
The Niners need to make Crabtree take his medicine and lower the guaranteed money and the base salary and beef it back up with incentives. He needs to earn it now. We tried to give it to him but he just spat in our faces. It's time to say, "you want it, you earn it."
The negotiation should be, "here's our offer. It's a little lower than we initially offered but fair considering the way you've acted. You can earn what we offered before through these incentives. Earn it here or get drafted by someone else next year and get half what we're offering now. Now if you'll excuse me I need to take some of the money we smartly didn't pay you and go work on some contracts for people who actually showed up and made us winners."
If that means he walks away again, so be it. Does anyone truly think he's going to make that much of a difference? Does having Crabtree = more wins? He's already proven he has poor judgement and that all he wants is money, not football immortality. It's time for the Niners to make sure he comes out with his tail between his legs. As for helping him save face, no need. It's the best offer he's getting until he becomes a bonified star in this league (which I doubt will happen).
WTF are you talking about? he's already signed a contract. the 49ers don't "need" to do anything, except get him ready for Houston.
"He's already proven he has poor judgement and that all he wants is money"
uh.... hate to break it to you and others on this blog, but professional players play for money.. and usually lots of it.
"Does anyone truly think he's going to make that much of a difference? Does having Crabtree = more wins?"
Lol.. in fact, that's exactly what the 9ers believe. They think he has an NFL ready (as in TODAY) skillset that translates to the field as soon as he can learn a package or two.
"It's time for the Niners to make sure he comes out with his tail between his legs"
and you would want to insult and embarrass your new prized asset why? who exactly will that help? he wasn't their employee till about 30 minutes ago!!! wouldn't it be prudent to just let the coaches do their job? if MC should get out of line, then I'm sure Mr. Singletary can handle it without your sage advice
Crabtree is 9 weeks behind - Too far behind to be an impact full time starter this year.
But here's one situation where he can be a huge contributor:
Inside the 10 yard line, Crabtree, who is tall and a great leaper, is a "natural" on fade routes and alley-oops in the deep corner of the end zone. I doubt there is a DB in the NFL who can out-jump Crabtree for a high floater.
Thanks for chasing this story so hard, Matt.
Now please sign with the Cards as a starting corner, because we've established that Crabs can evade you. In fact, we could even use Jed as a TE and Hammer as a slot receiver.
While Hammer and Crabtree were running from you did he yell back "you can't touch this"?
No, NYJ still has their R1 for 2010.
I hope he's the second coming of Jerry Rice.
The Jets also owe Philly a pick for Lito Sheppard, they should have much prepwork to do for next year's draft by the look of it...
Crabtree has punished himself enough, showing up like they did is essentially him coming "with his tail between his legs"
The kid is where he belongs and it's time to treat him like one of the team, that's the best thing for everybody involved. Whoever is still bitter needs to let it go, he'll be a major contributor next year, and maybe we can enjoy him a little bit this season as well.
How much difference will Crabtree make on a team that has a weak armed QB who doesn't get protection from his mediocre OL while executing the plays of a journeyman OC?
Matt this whole deal smells of dead fish. Once again we were second fiddle to someone else. Edwards signed with the Jets this morning after Crabtree signed with us. Jed should go after these guys with both barrels loaded. At this point I'm not even sure if I like the idea of this guy even donning the red and gold- just from a character standpoint.
I still hope he takes a big shot across the middle at practice. Maybe a few big shots.
Then hug him and say ..."you are part of the team, don't step out of line in this locker room or it will be more of this Niner D in ya a$$$ZZZ$Z$Z$ZZZZ...."
Maybe Crabtree got word about the Braylon Edwards deal and realized one of his "big" offers was not going to exist anymore. Either way, it's done and I am very glad. Let's get this guy in a couple plays and let's see what he's got.
Thanks Matt for all the info. You are the man!
"I still hope he takes a big shot across the middle at practice. Maybe a few big shots.
Then hug him and say ..."you are part of the team"
oh, don't worry... it's gonna happen eventually. not because he held out, but because he's a rookie. crabs will be fine... but aat some point, I'm sure mr. willis will "introduce" himself properly on a crossing route.
Hey Matt, Outstanding job of reporting as usual. I was busting up when you told the story on knbr this morning! Reguarding Crabtree, I am taking a balanced approach on this guy. I don't want to get too excited because he just got here and it is going to take some time. However, I think he has got a great chance to succeed. Singletary really has a way with preparing players and understanding when they are ready to go and I believe this will benefit the kid. Vernon Davis is really beginning to elevate his game and when our oline comes together we will have a perfect balance on offense.
Yep, Wilis will help him up and say "that was b/c you are a rookie".... then Spikes will clothesline him on the spot and say "...and that is b/c you held out..."
SOmeone cue the music......FIN-A-LLY!!
This is just a prime example of how fickle sports fans have become. For all of those/us that have talked endless BS about MC, now we'll all embrace him and cheer him when/if he does well......BUT, if he doesn't live up to all this hype, cue the BOOS and all the other BS that goes along with it...
I can't wait til Singletary rips this kid a new A-HOLE, and serves him up a nice helping of humble pie! The 49ers will be the best thing to ever happen to MC's career.
GO NINERS!
If the tampering charge is proven, I do not believe that the 49ers will get any low round pick. In fact, considering that they did eventually sign him, it is probable that the Jets are punished, more than the 49ers are "compensated". They probably just forfeit a pick. At most, I can only see a swap that moves us ahead.
As for the Atlanta game, I think the 49ers can win this game, whatever the stat guy says. Unless the 49ers defense is all smoke and mirrors -- and who here believes that -- they have a verygood defense (the best ATL has seen, IMO) that is really tough on the run with a very disciplined tight secondary. They will play Atlanta's O tough.
The 49ers offense is a work in progress, we know. But their attitude after last weeks poor OL showing is spot on. I think they will continue to improve, and that they stand a good chance of beating the falcons in a close game Sunday.
But as for the localguy's prediction that Atlanta "crushes" the Niners -- I just don't see it bro.
i really don't think the players care if he held out because of the money. they all want to be paid, and i think that crabtree had to do what he had to do... it's all business. now, i think the one thing the players might have a beef with crabtree is that he miss all of training camp. plus, the lower rank players might not be too happy because he got all that money, and one of them probably will be cut to make room for him.
"Singletary really has a way with preparing players and understanding when they are ready to go and I believe this will benefit the kid."
Nice post. Totally agree, I've been impressed with how Sing handles that. As much as I want to see Jason Hill on the field I agree with his message to him. Practice like you play & that includes better preparation & taking care of yourself to avoid injuries that cause you to miss that practice (& playing) time. Once & a while is to be expected but Hill has been injured & missed valuable practice time too much. He layed out the law in front of Hill & explained what he expects simply & straight forward. Practical way to light a fire under Hill. I'm interested to see what happens with him as time goes on.
Wow.... The 49ers had a front office victory. I'm amazed. Scot McCloughan got a six year deal, and Crabtree has to "reluctantly," sit through a press conference today. I hope the media throws eggs and tomotoes at him. Who knows about the terms? But really, what was Crabtree thinking? He was stupid to waste a year of productivity even though he salvaged a year of pay. Don't tell me it's a business. This business is about productivity.
Crabtree will now attract a lot of attention to himself for a few games, and be better perform to show Niner faithful all the drama was worth it, or you're just another TO - and TO is close to being out of the league for good. If you can't take a hint when you're freezing your arse off in Buffalo that you're on thin ice, you simply never will. TO - Can you say Barry Bonds. Stupid wide receivers. Crabtree isn't one of those dumb receivers with his mouth, but he definitely is with his action thus far. Shut up, Crabtree, get in line, shut up and play football. Nothing else. Take the boos...... you deserve them.
Shut up Crabtree? Did I miss something? When has he actually opened his mouth and said...anything?
Unlike TO in that regard. fo sho.
Matt, i like the 2nd attempt at a video, seems like you guys definately did a better job on the 2nd video. It looked a lot more polished. My only thought at this piont is to have you toss in maybe 2-3 more photos and then i think you will have nailed it. I thought you guys picked some good action shots. The movement on the photos was a nice touch too as it kept the video moving, and gave it a more fluid feeling.
Thank you, 49ertime, for your thoughts on the video. It was very nice to hear some constructive ways you believe it can be better. Thanks for taking the time to express your thoughts. --Matt M.
Good to see the FO get the job done. It was pretty much a consensus that Crabs was a top 5 talent so getting him at 10 is a steal even minus a few games. The kid was unbelievable in college with 3000+ yards and 40+ TD's in only two seasons. He has the intangibles you can coach on just making plays. We need that to round out the offense. Gotta have a legit #1 threat that the opponent must account for. It'll open up opportunities for Gore, VD, and the rest of the WR's by taking one guy out of the box so we are looking at 7 man fronts. The only big question is can he perform at the elite NFL level, and that only time will tell...why we play the games. The upside is exciting.
Even Spit is making sense today although he can't bring his glass to half full. I'm pumped for the ATL game, no way we get crushed. If we can continue to get pressure on their QB and take it off our QB we should be in the game til the end. O-line needs to step up, and I like Willis blitzing once in a while just to put fear in the QB seeing those eyes starring him down. Another GPS game...this could last all year.
See I feel exactly the opposite though...I doubt there are many corners that can't outjump him though I admit he does have a knack for getting in the end zone against college corners. Only time will tell how hard this kid has been working and will be willing to work to get better because he definitely needs to get better...we shall see
I am hesitant to jump on the crabs bandwagon unlike many of you who have bashed him for weeks and are now jumping for joy...
He must prove himself to all 49er fans with his performance on the field after the ordeal that he and his agent have subjected the faithful to.
Oneniner, its good to see you might actually be thinking about supporting Hill... Most of us are not in love with Hill but we believe that he can get the job done even if its ugly...
One good thing about the signing today:
We now have Crabs and VD!!
hahahaha
Matt,
I am actually kind of glad you put your link to the video in your post because otherwise I would never have gone to it.
I would describe your first effort as being a little bit like one of my kid's school presentations that is really painful, but you smile and clap because you love them and know how hard they worked putting it together.
Watching the Rams review I thought "Wow", perhaps Matt is on to something here. HUGE improvement. Your speaking is more measured and much better synched with the video. The picktures continue to be great action shots and the movement was a little motre subdued this time which was good. Perhaps most importantly you included a lot more interesting facts in this video. The reason we all worship you is that you give us info on the team we love first and best. I still think that you could pack some more interesting facts in your future videos, but this one was much better than the first.
There will never be a replacement for you Blog and Tweets since I often can't get to video, but it would appear that you have added a nice new media to your portfolio and I look forward to even bigger improvements!
Go Matt Go!
Hi Matt,
I have like your second video because you seem more secure.
Also I have like your breakdown of the math. You have a personal opnion and you gave it !! Not a copy paste breakdown of collegues.
My only remarks will the be the noise made by the wind but it's an easely problem to solve.
Great job, welle done

Matt I'm more curious about what MS & JR has figured out about our offensive woes. Is he going with differnt personell or new O-line coach? What are the bones saying at this point
