Hill is inactive again. :-(

Next years draft...time to trade down for picks. We need OL, DL and pass rusher. I would suggest we need to be flexible with the D Scheme next year. If the best rusher is a 4-3 DE then we take him and switch it up. Like our chances with Smith, new guy and McD. Willis, Spikes and Lawson would make a nice 4-3 duo. PW in MLB, Law at SLB and Spike back at Will.

joe staley already out of the game.....not a good omen for smith

come on VD make a football play....get both feet in bounds....missed opportunity on punt

They need to kill the wildcat plays, its a waste.

got to get those commercials in.....never saw the penalty

but did see that Gore TD....nice to see the offense of lore

Man I love that play by Gore but the guy I'm playing in fantasy just got 18 pts off that play.

so matt, do u think that film breakdown for the OL by Pashos is helping out? i will take the answer on the live feed of yours

Bad offensive series. Damn. Alex needs to settle a little bit. Seems to be stressing some.

Spencer got beat and the safety rotated very late. Not liking that. C'mon Clements.

We have our QB! No doubt!

Colts can still score before halftime.

will brandon jones come in for josh morgan because of that penalty

clements nicked up on punt return...not in the game?

is this going to create issues on defense?

Mark Roman is an issue... the ball goes right through his hands on 3rd down... this guy is a joke

Will we stop blitzing, please?

bad challenge...will need that timeout later

so raye only opens it up when behind or last two minutes...that will stagnate smith

not a good moment with colts ahead by 4....forces raye to call a lot of passing because he can't let manning get another TD for an 11pt lead........

now colts defense will lay back waiting for a pick...

OK Matt, time to make an evaluationn of Raye's playcalling. This is the guy who will keep the Niners out of the playoffs.

just as i suspected.....9ers forced to pass and colts just waiting in the wings....

3 man rush gets to smith because 8 back in coverage...and colts have rookie CB's on both sides playing and can't take advantage of it....

this is a raye issue

Clearly calls on offense in 3rd QTR and early 4th are "not to lose" instead of trying to win. You would have thought they would have figured it out. If Alex throws a couple of INT's and we win, it is better then running on 1st and 2nd then throwing on 3rd and long. They should open it up a little more.

seems like nate clements out is causing some issues on defense......TE getting more open.....colt runs a bit more successful

Jimmy Raye = dinosaur

my feeling is the biggest difference between the 9rs and colts this game is that the colts completed their 3rd down plays and even long 20+ yd third down plays........this is why colts are ahead

bad coaching... brandon should not have caught that punt....

deoes alex have it to manage the team 94yds

well here it is ..... colts ball with just under 6 minutes

def needs stop and a strip by defense

It's funny that Alex has success when he's in shotgun, but we're hellbent on having him under center. P. Manning spend the entire game in shotgun. You have to play to your QBs strength. I'm trying to be hesistant on criticizing Raye, but this was a winnable game and we didn't take advantage of A.Smith's momentum.

Defense was ready - offense was ridiculous other than one drive. Not on Alex but on the coaches on offense. Defense is getting worn down now...

5niner,

Excellent point! Let's play to Alex's strengths. We did play well other than very conservative play calls.

OK so the 9rs played the colts tuff and kept the game manageable....no doubt about it.....BUT

raye has to be innovative at times during the game......hell manning hasn't thrown a TD......

but now colts can just run the clock out

Horrible playcalling lost us the game.

moral victory
Smith 1 TD
Manning 0 TD

They played much better than I thought they would.

Moral victories aren't cutting it anymore. This was a winnable game. We've got the talent, but this offense is being held back by Jimmy Raye. Terrible play calling. Honestly pathetic. Something needs to happen or one man (Raye) is going to keep a playoff caliber team out of the playoffs.

Uh oh, I feel the normal 6 or 7 game skid that the 49ers have been doing for the past several years coming on.

Dirk, you are correct! Football is a game of momentum and that holding call on Bass really sucked!!! I am very proud of the way this team played today. Only if the play calling and o line play was better, we might have defeated this indy team.

Man, what a heart breaker!

Oneninner, I have to give you credit, Alex Smith looked better than in the past. He just have a different look on his face. I truly hope he can fine tune his short passes.

Good effort just not good enough. Better job by OL especially Sims.

Howabout everyone keeps their mouth shut today as we do not need any Monday morning QBs on Sunday. Sorry guys but I don't know what to say and our second guessing just makes us look ignorant as I am sure the coaches/players know more about football than we do.

Before that last drive of the 1st half(which just ended as I write this) ,I was almost ready to declare that I was seeing the same old Alex. He had thrown late to receivers and had thrown waaay high and off target to Crabs to cause a needless interception and he was showing his signature play of rolling out right and throwing the ball out of bounds.
BUT THEN...He led them on the 88 yard drive with beautiful passes ,right on target for the most part and with great zip on the ball.Great drive, that looked like last weeks 2nd half, which we all were hoping was not just a fluke.
Keep it up alex,we want the new alex and not the old one ,that we have seen waaaay too much of over the years! ...And Great defense in the 1st half !!!

Oregon49er, how about second guessing during the game as you're watching it unfold? You can call their plays before they happen. This isn't rocket science, Raye is a bad OC.

Wow. What a comment. That really was valuable insight. Keep it up!

Did your 2nd guessing help the team win? No. So what good is it? Let's be fans for a day instead of anolyist which we are not qualified to be.

Unfortunately it didn't help. Just frustrated seeing the talent we have not given the opportunity to reach their potential. However, it was fun to see them compete vs. one of the best teams in the league.

...Well,Alex was very innacurate in the 2nd half . He was better than he had been in the past but still not playing anything like a quality NFL QB. Late throws and many over throws etc etc . But it could have been worse, like it always was when Alex was playing in years past. (probably better now mostly because of the great defense).
Only 6 quarters so far in his comback,so of course I will not make any final judgements on alex yet,but he sure did NOT impress,at all.At least nothing like he impressed last week in his one half against that prevent defense.
The defense was great but the offense did nothing to help them out. Smith,Hill ,not that much difference, except that Smith has a better arm and Hill has a winning record (until he seemed to lose his confidence ,with all the pounding he took in the first part of the season ).
Can't wait for Nate Davis to get ready !!! Until then I will need to hope that alex improves a great deal. It's possible,I suppose?
He did look marginally better than his old self, not a great deal better but at times he did look like witrh much work he could possibly be a decent starter and almost surly a good backup, which I expect.
Go Alex, this season is in your hands !

Matt M,

Please grill Sing at the press conference about Raye's playcalling. I have complete faith in you to do what's best for the team and pretty much being our only voice.

Thank You

Are we going to have to hear this all season meaning you old Alex/ new Alex critique. We get it, you're not a Smith fan. You've educated us all preseason of Alex's faults, no need to reiterate.

Sorry 9rfaful and everyone else. It just left a bad taste in my mouth. I am also sick and tired of these guys writing on here like they should be HCs. Hindsight is 2o/2o. I think I need some medicine to take away the pain.

The thing that sucks the most about the NFL is we have to wait 7 days to get the bad taste out of our mouths. Oh well, I guess that is what makes the NFL the greatest sport on Earth!

Keep the faith Faithfuls.

The teams strength is passing the ball at this time. There is no two headed power running attack as Coffee barely touches the ball now. Our O-Line is struggling to get push up the middle. Play to the teams strengths and go to a spread offense at times. Let the pass set up the run. Even though he was involved in two of the turnovers today Crabtree is clearly a player and the Raiders must feel horrible right now.

I'm sorry if it hurts you to hear the truth...

Before we all go ripping this team for losing 3 in a row (sigh), let's realize this team has a bright future. Crabtree is a player, as is Vernon, J Morgan, P Willis, and either Smith or N Davis should turn into a solid QB. We've got some good young talent, and I think we're on the brink of being a very good team. I truly believe that Jimmy Raye is holding this team back, but we're definitely moving in the right direction. Keep your heads up, this might get fun real soon..

It's not truth until it happens. It gets irritating that so-called fans give up so quickly and get in whiner mode. We've had 2 games that were winnable despite the bad play calling, poor oline play and turnovers. We only need to win the west. If AZ lose today, we're still only one game out. AZ won the west with only 3 out of division games last year. We're not out of it. Can some of guys show some fan spirit.

Sorry 5 Niner,if you don't like what I wrote. I guess it was pretty self evident and we all knew already what I wrote before I wrote it. But it helps me to vent my hopes that he improves and we can finally have a decent QB.
At least I have changed my mind about Alex. I see more chance for him now than he ever had before ,since he has improved in a couple of areas.
I just hope he keeps improving ,and not just a little bit but in huge strides. Not like he played today.

I am with you 5niner!

We are not done yet. Keep the faith and hold your negativity to yourself.

I agree with you optimistic post above ,except I don't know quite yet if Raye is at fault or if the offense is just not converting on the good plays he calls. I guess there was another day of 32+ passes,so nobody can rightfully say that Raye does not call enough passes. As a matter of fact he calls more passes than runs, and that is not just today but has been true for this entire season.
You might argue that Raye calls the WRONG pass plays,(I am not qualified to judge that),but you certainly can't keep saying,as some misguided fans keep doing, that Raye is not passing enough and is running too much. That is simpy not true !

Here's the thing, there were 47 other niners on the field today, but you seem to only single out one player. I saw fumbles, dropped passes and some not so crisp routes run today. So to single out one player seem disingenuous to that analysis of the team.

9RFAFUL, as i mentioned i am proud of the way this team played. And i have been waiting for 6 years for my team to start winning again so i will not give up now. What really frustrates me, is the little things that cost us the game, such as:

- drops by I Bruce
- Fumble by Crab
- Morgans penalty that lead to the colts field goal
- Jimmy Rays play calling in the second half
- And of course the horrible holding call that stopped our drive

I do agree that this team has alot of talent and it just needs to fine tune thinks a little and hopefully AZ falls apart by loosing a few!

GO NINERS, and please now is time to go undefeated for the rest of the season.

...But as I have been saying all along, the team looks like it has a very bright future! Lots of good things to look forward to !
I love Jed and think Scotty is very good and will grow more the longer he does the job,and Sing seems solid.
Our defense looks like it is going to be strong for a long time and the offense has more weapons but either Raye is not the right guy or it will take a while for his offense to get together or maybe we will need to wait for the O line to be fixed and for Nate Davis to come into his own,or who knows, maybe even alex will get much much better and become a good starter?
Bright future,if thigs come together on offense soon, the future will be here,if it tAKES UNTIL NEXT SEASON FOR THE o LINE AND qb AND oc TO GET UP TO SPEED,THEN THE BRIGHT FUTURE WILL JUST BE DELAYED A BIT. (Sorry about the caps lock,I never could type very well, lol).

This is a guy who hasn't played much football in the last 2 years and if you don't notice a major improvement in his play already then you're just the flipside of oneniner.

The major problem with this offense is the playcalling which will keep this team from making the playoffs. T-Raye-x (extinct now) constantly calls plays on 1st and 2nd downs that leaves them with 3rd and long. I doubt if this guy can spell imaginative playcalling. Where is Brandon Jones, use Bruce as the 3rd receiver, quit playing on a 5-10 yard field.
You wasted a excellent game by, of all people, Barry Sims.

I see your point but it WAS Alex's first start in years and he is THE one under the microscope and under the spot light.
I am sure we had all hoped for much more from Smith today, sort of hoping for what we saw him do against that prevent defense last week.
Alex was not horrible,so that is somewhat encouraging. There is hope there, not much but enough for alex to take advantage and show the world he can be a top NFL QB. He will have the rest of the year to show that. I hope he does.
But in reality I have a bit more hope for the prospects of Nate Davis. But neither of them is a sure thing. WE NEED one of them to be a sure thing or it won't matter how optimistic I am about the rest of the team and the front office and ownership etc.
I think we will ALL be looking and talking about Alex for the rest of the year.So don't be upset that I talked about alex. I am SURE that Alex is very happy that he is THE topic of conversation once again and not just a footnote in Ninr's history. So,that is a good thing for Alex that I am talking about him,not a bad thing !

You know, you're going to have your opinion and nothing will change that. Alex didn't win the game nor did he lose it. I can pick our at least 5 plays where other players cost us the game. Either way, you'll still feel that Alex was the reason we lose or his play was putrid or something along those lines.

I, on the other hand, feel we should look at where Alex was successful and what was the common theme. That would be standing in the shotgun where he can survey the defense and he can release the ball quicker. When we've done that Alex has been successful and we've moved the ball.

Dang.

Not often we've been able to say the Niners had the best QB in the game.

Not often the best QB gets beat.

"Run first" Raye needs to call what's working and pass more. Learn from Manning who's a better OC than Raye will ever be.

Must admit I got mad at Bruce again. That's two games in a row. Gimme some Hill. Jason that is.

Nice. I won't be upset if you talk about Alex. The only thing I really request of the fans is to be fair and to have some optimism (or at least not start whining at the midpoint of the season).

Gilroy: If you actually read my posts above you will see that I have mentioned over and over again that there iIS a noticable improvement in Alex's play. He was pathetic in years past and then last week he got his first chance since those pathetic days and he was great.
This week he held onto a few of the improvements that he showed last week but regresses to some of the terrible things he always did in the past that made him an almost bust.
It is an improvement for Alex that we are even talking about him being a possible future starter. I am giving him a fresh start in my mind and am not going to make any final judgement on alex until I see him for several more weeks. I hope he continues his improvements. He has only played 6 quarters in this fresh start,as I said in a post above,so he is under the gun,to be sure ,but he has a great opportunity too.
He was nowhere near as impressive this week as he was last week. But on the other hand he was not pathetic ,as he always was in the past.So the jury is out. He has improved,I agree. Has he improved enough to make him a starter for the long term or has he just improved enough to jump himself up to backup level. That is what we will find out in the rest of the season.

Hey fan - looks like the Cards may not win this one. Keep your heads up. We may only be down 1 game after this week.

I never said Alex was the reason we lost the game,so stop putting words in my mouth !!!
But we were only 2-10 in 3rd down conversions and Alex did have the ball in his hands on every one of those 12 3rd downs.
Many Hill haters were saying it was Hill's fault when we had better 3rd down conversion stats than alex had,so those guys are probably blaming Smith today, right, lol.
But not me,I blame the entire offense, the O line and the few drops and the poor QB play overall and maybe the OC for not calling all the proper plays at the proper time.
Alex did not play very well but was ok. Hopefully he will get better as he plays more !
He has shown me some improvement.I just want him to keep improving. If this is all he has, then he is not an NFL caliber QB. But hopefully this is nowhere near all he has, because this entire season is now on his shoulders, because we don't win unless the QB is very good from now on,not with this offense.

3 straight road losses by a grand total of 10 points. That is painfull !!!

Oh well,if Calolina can actually win that game then we still have a great shot at winning the division . Even if the Cardsa win,we still have a shot.
But this offense has got to come together !

Dude you're funny. Like I said before you have your opinion. I fully expect to see the standard top_cat post again soon.

Get Isaac Bruce off our TV screens and activate and play Ziegler and Brandon Jones for Gods sake....it can't be any worse!! Christ, give Alex some targets to throw to other than Crabtree and Davis!!

Also, it would be nice if dumb-dumb Raye would throw a wrinkle in and go no-huddle offense for a series or two....can't he see it helps Alex get into a rhythm when he does it??

NO HUDDLE RAYE, YOU MORON!!

Just finished watching the game and all I can say is -- great effort by the team, and Jimmy Raye is costing his players a chance at winning.

I have been patient with this guy, but it is now quite evident that he has no guts or sense.

Sing, you are going to start losing your players. They are not stupid and they know when the coaching is being so conservative that it costs them a chance to win.

Pathetic and wimpy, Raye.

2nd and 7, 2nd half, down by four, a run up the middle to ...Norris! For no gain! I guess he was "mixing it up".

Look -- Alex played well, he was not the problem. The whole team played well, and they had a chance to beat a very good team. But in the 2nd half, Raye hardly had Smith in the shotgun at all, where he has done well. The announcers noticed this, but apparently, not Raye. As for those that think the post game complaining is whining, give me a break. If a player is sucking and holding back the team, everyone notices, and every one comments on it.

The coaches are part of the equation too. Just because they are "coaches" doesn't mean they cannot be crappy.

oh well, thanks 9ers, for playing your guts out. Hope you can get rewarded for it next week.

Faithful, Panthers are spanking the cardinals!!! We still have a shot. Is tough to cheer for panthers however i am their #1 fan this week! I hope Staley is ok. Please activate hill and put both jones and hill in the game and reduce Mr. Bruce's playing time.

Singletary has to man up and admit he made a mistake in firing Martz and hiring Raye. There is no doubt in my mind that with Martz as OC we would be 5-2 right now. And, I am not that much of a Martz fan either. I rolled my eyes when Nolan hired him last year. But...I thought the need for continuity at the OC position trumped any personality problems presented by Martz. He may be arrogant, he may pass too much, he may not have meshed with Singletary's idea of offensive football, but he was here at the end of last year and I thought we desperately needed the same OC two years in a row.

If it was not for Martz's, Singletary would not have even gotten the job. To turn around immediately and fire Martz was an act of utter ingratitude.

Singletary is responsible for Jimmy Raye being the OC, and should be held accountable. Everybody who is criticizing Raye should keep in mind who is ultimately responsible for Raye being here.

Another stat to take some of the air out of the hate Jimmy Raye crowd.
Raye had his offense run on 8 1st downs today BUT had them pass on 17 !!!
Raye is a passing fool !!! lol.
He has passed more in every game this year. You might complain about what pass plays Raye calls but please stop sounding silly by complaining that Raye runs too much ,because he does not !
I also am not sure he calls the proper plays at the proper times. Time will tell us more, since every newly installed offense needs time to jell. But one thing I do KNOW,is that Raye calls enough passes to make Bill walsh happy . Maybe not the right pass plays, but more than enough passes.

"Can't wait for Nate Davis to get ready !!! Until then I will need to hope that alex improves a great deal. It's possible,I suppose?" "But on the other hand he was not pathetic ,as he always was in the past.So the jury is out. He has improved,I agree".

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't these you're statements? They don't sound like what I would call objective statements. I would ask you the same thing I'd ask oneniner, do you actually read what you write? I question both of you on your objectivity.

1: The reason you know that smith does fairly well in a no huddle offense is because Raye called a no huddle for Smith today and last week. So Raye is already doing what you are ripping him for not doing, lol
I don't know if Raye is good or horrible just yet, although I have my doubts. But there are several things you could choose to rip Raye, you don't need to say things like he should run the no huddle for smith and call him dunb etc, when he has run the no huddle for smith. Calm down ,lol,Raye is not the devil, lol.

So what's your point? The plays he calls on 1st and 2nd downs are ineffective and leave them in 3rd and long.

Go listen to Adam Meyer's (sports handicapper) podcast on the KNBR website last week. He too says they are way to predictable on offense, especially trying to run up the middle as much as they do. If professional handicappers and most of us fans can see that, what do you think the opposing DCs see when they watch films of the Niner "O"? Nothing like giving the other team a headstart right off the bat!!!!!!

TC,

What were the stats in the 2nd half, or when they were down by 4? Also -- it is not just that he calls a pass, it is the the type that he calls, the formation, etc.

The announcers (and other sports pundits) have said that Smith does better when he can survey all his receivers off the line from the shotgun. It seemed to me that almost all of the pass plays in the 2nd half -- money time, down by 4 -- came with Smith lining up under center.

Sure, he could play fake from that, but it didn't look like the Colts were to worries about the run at that point.

Gilroy: I often agree with you so I am not challenging your knowledge.
But we do need to start from the point where we already know that smith has been a huge dissappointment and ALMOST a total bust. He has another chance now and all real 49ers fans will cheer for him to do well, but that doesn't mean we leave our brains behind and forget everything we have seen over the years since Smith was drafted in 2005.
I have said that smith played great last week but that it was against a prevent defense that was 21 points ahead when smith came in. Plus they were not prepared for smith but were prepared for Hill. So last week, although great was not conclusive at all as to wheather or not smith has greatly improved. And if he has not or will not greatly improve, then he is not good enough to be our QB,if we want to win. He was just ok today, not bad ,like usual but nothing to write home about.

I hope he is going to be greatly improved !!! But going by todays performance he looks moderatly improved. That will be fine IF he keeps steadily improving. But if he does not keep improving a great deal overall,by the end of this year, then what has really changed with him? He will not be good enough .
I like the kid and hope the best for him,but I am not willing to throw away my brain or my eyes, but will use both to make my judgement of Alex's play. Since I am a loyal 49ers fan and since I like Alex as a class person,I hope he becomes great. But right now,he is an ok QB who does not as of yet meet my standards for what I want for my team. Of course that is just my humble opinion and I hope my opinion changes because alex greatly improves.
We had better hope that Alex or Davis become that guy, because I would hate to need to waste a pick or two on a top QB prospect, when we already have Davis.
What is wrong with that ???

Barley: I don't have all the stats. I just read some of them on twitter that MM posted.

But I know that they used the shotgun quite a bit today and I know that Raye calls a load of passes every game. I already stated that which pass plays Raye calls shoule probably be the crux of the discussion, not that he runs too much.
Alex simply needs to learn to perform what all NFL QB's must learn,to be under Center. Of course Raye puts him in the shotgunm quite a bit but it is up to alex to be able to do both. The spread offense is great in college but you can't do that all the time in the NFL.
That is what many experts said about the Meyer Spread offense and about alex ,before he was drafted. Here we are 4 years later and we (you) are still lamenting the fact that alex does not do all that well under Center but still is only comfortable in the shotgun and the spread offense.
I expect more from alex than you do I guess ?
But I agree that the jury is out on Raye .

After posting right after the game, a few (calmer) observations:

1. Raye *is* calling passing plays - I just question play selection during certain times (and score) in the game.
2. Smith is playing his best since 2006 under Raye's tutelage.
3. Smith is making excellent throws, he just needs more practice at #1.
3. Crabtree has started just 2 games, Raye is still evaluating what he can do since he had no TC.
4. Raye has the offense looking better since Smith took over - more 1st downs and total yards.
5. We played a good team and gave them fits for 3 quarters when most here were hoping we wouldn't get blown out.

Raye is doing much better - we should give him a break. I'd like to see him include more no huddle and formations out of the shotgun, which tends to suit Alex's strengths. I'm very optimistic for the rest of the 9ers games this year.

TOP_CAT, I agree with GilroyAl, you are very negative regarding Smith.
It seems you are looking at everything Smith does to put it under a microscope. Remember, the O-line was weak and just got weaker with Staley going out early. Smith is making impressive throws and this is after *only* one weak of practice as the #1 with the 1st team. Let's just let the kid play this out and not ridicule every little thing he is doing. Smith is looking more confident and he will continue to get better - it's all mental for him. Raye is getting better also, although his play selection at certain times in the game is sometimes questionable.
It's interesting how *personal* people on this blog get when discussing the 9ers. It's as though it is a competition among posters and they have to be right even if it means the team they support loses.

Top Cat - Raye CALLED no huddle for Alex??? He CALLED it???

uh....it was a no-brainer....It's almost as if the no-huddle offense is the standard thing to run in the NFL with a minute left in the half!! What a surprise!

Yeah, he "CALLED" it....but I want to see him running it during non-standard times, to get the D on their heels and tire the pass rush, as well as help get Alex in a good tempo and get the O clicking.

God forbid Raye do anything out of he norm!!!

Hey, it took the Colts a TRICK PLAY to score a TD on us, but hey....THEY DID IT and they SCORED! They added the wrinkle they needed and it worked!

Raye just sits back in predictability and plays into the defense! Opposing defenses thank us with the final score!

I am sicken tire of the way jimmy raye playcalled. He is very inconsistant.
singletary could have retain mike martz to be the OC but he had to let him go. The reason why singletary told mike martz to take a hike cause last season when niners played against arizona cardinals on monday night. The niners could have won the ball game but because there was some kind of miscommunication and niners end up lost that game. Coach sing was very upset when he gave his post game. Mike Nolan called mike martz on his cell phone that the official put the ball in the wrong spot. The ball was supposed to be at the 1 yard line and not 2 yards line.
Mike martz gave a post press conference to the media and he said that sing was too inexperience and did not know where the spot of the football was. People called the radio station the next day and talked about it. Singletary had to swallowed the stupid remark made by his OC. Singletary was not going to let martz go cause it was during the season. Singletary waited until the season was over than he let martz go and singletary came out and address to the media that he wants to run the ball more and that the reason why martz and him has different philosophy about offense. Singletary let martz go cause he made that stupid remark about singletary and beside, singletary did not want to have a coach that already took a ram team to the super bowl and lost to the patriot. Singletary could have retain martz and all singletary has to do was to work with martz so the two could understand each other philosophy.
Singletary hired Jimmy raye cause he does not want to have a young OC come in and later leave the niners to acept a HC job. Singletary brought in Raye cause he knows that Raye already in his 60's and if Raye was turn out to do good with the offense, no other team would hire him as HC cause of his age.
Raye needs to let Alex smith runs the spread offense and use the shotgun. Put alex in place where he is comfortable playing. Stop this stupidity sorry as wild cat plays.
It seem like every year there is alway something is wron with the niners. Either the defense, the offense, special team or QB or HC problem. This freakin year, we have OC problem and singletary is not going to batch Raye cause sing brought Ray in. We now have a QB. Fix the OL and please freakin Ray call the right place to the best of your freakin offense personnel. If sing does not act fast, we are going to have another disappointed season and the big problem now is Jimmy Raye playcalling.

Frank Gore needs to stop running into the back hole.

Why Ray is a crappy OC. The start of a continuing series.

Exhibit 1: His Wildcat.

Direct snap to Gore who runs up the middle. Gain of nothing.

Effing brilliant. Child of 2 could have read that one.

Hi Matt,
Some observations, a little complaining, and a question or two...

- Bruce seems uninterested? He is not giving it 100%. Shouldn't we give the other 25 receivers on the team a chance?

- Alex looks very sharp out of the spread formation. They seem to move the ball at will when they get into that formation. In the 2nd half we didn't see any of that. What am I missing? Isn't it obvious what we should be doing? And why not design run plays out of the spread? Everyone and their mom knows when the niners want to run, moran norris and frank gore on the field at the same time!

- We went from the most imaginative OC to the least imaginative. For gods sake man, try something different. And I don't mean the attempts at wild cat! Wild cat is effective when the threat of throwing the ball is there. Who's going to believe that Gore is going to throw. Maybe Robinson?

- This team is in desperate need of speed on offense. We let Sheets go and we don't give Jones a chance. What the...?

- Singletary talks about finishing the job. Maybe he should game plan to win rather than not to loose. You get up by 4 points against a team like indy and you go completely conservative? That is pathetic!

Can you please bring up some of these points in today's press conference?

DId anyone else wonder if Tim Ryan was watching the same game as the rest of us. That guy is a so biased I almost puked. We did not play well enough to win but we did make them look very average
