If you've been around town for more than five minutes, at some point you've probably stumbled into Mendocino Avenue's Tipsy Triangle anchored on three corners by the Belvedere, the 440 Club (props!) and the Round Robin. Despite looking more like a bed and breakfast than a bar, the low-ceilinged downstairs rooms are usually packed with JC students, chain-smoking patio-goers and low-brow affectionados come Friday and Saturday night. And although just about anyone on the street can point you to 727 Mendo, you'll get a confused look if you ask for the restaurant. "They serve food?" In fact, they do.

Though it's hardly a newsflash, the Bay Area just isn't known for its hot dog culture. Outside of backyard barbecues, Brats, foot-longs and chili dogs were almost unheard of if you traveled north of Modesto or east of, well, Chicago....

Two former Napa chefs are stocking their new eatery, Green Grocer in Windsor, almost exclusively with food caught or harvested within 150 miles. Joe and Susanna Rueter opened the gourmet market in late July 2008 with 95% of their inventory coming from local sources. Currently they're working with folks like Gary Blasi, Sayre, Amstrong, Golden Nectar and Bernier Farms. Joe almost apologies for the fact that some of his pork is from 167 miles away. And the coffee (duh) isn't local, but its fair-trade. You get the idea.

Historic Italian deli, Traverso's is packing up the pepperoni and pinot; the mozzarella and tortellini and leaving downtown Santa Rosa for good. After more than 30 years in its B Street location, Michael Traverso tells BiteClub that they've officially inked the deal and will be headed for Fountain Grove Village at the end of the year

Time to tighten the money belt and suss out lunches with a slimmer economic profile. But hey, let's not get crazy. They've still got to taste, well, reasonably good.

Let me first say that Hank's is never going to be included in the annals of haute cuisine. It's diner food. Good diner food for the most part. But diner food. It's fluffy pancakes as big as your head, sausage, eggs and Huevos Rancheros. But what sets Hank's apart from, say, Denny's or IHop is the local cred and homemade touch. Biscuits are made from scratch, eggs are fresh and the cottage fries are, Oh My God good

After weeks of waiting (and trust me, a whole lot of you have been asking), the Cheese Steak Shop is finally open just off Stony Point Road. Some of you are rabid fans who've sampled the goods elsewhere. Others are just jonesing for a taste of Philly. Neither will be disappointed
