Re: St. Patrick's Day
It's that time of year when cabbage finally gains some respect. I hope you all "really eat the cabbage". Cabbage has an abundant supply of vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C, E, K and folic acid. A reasonable amount of corned beef and Guniess may enhance the dining experience. When planning your St. Patrick's Day eats/events...please consider shopping local. Bring the people back to the city center....and don't forget the designated driver or friendly cab dude.

Re: St. Patrick's Day
2 great places in the Cotati/Rohnert Park area for the traditional Paddy's Day feast - Friar Tuck's Pub in Cotati on Old Redwood Highway, and Sally Tomatoes at the Sonoma Mountain Village in Rohnert Park.
Friar Tuck's will be having corned beef and cabbage all day long, from 11 am on, until it runs out, for only $10. Bagpipe music from 7 - 11 p.m.
Sally Tomatoes is having a buffet of corned beef, cabbage, butter potatoes and carrots, homemade Irish soda bread, Emerald Isle salad with green goddess dressing for only $7.95 per person! They will also be showing the John Wayne classic Irish film "The Quiet Man" on their big TV starting at 7:30pm, at no charge.
Happy St. Patrick's Day to all!

And on the day after it is sandwich time. Cornbeef, Mozzarella cheese, sauerkraut, and horseradish on New York rye bread.
Heat cornbeef in microwave, assemble and grill with butter till cheese melts.
The combination of flavors with gooey cheese and crunchy bread will make your head swim.

Come to PUB NIGHT at the Jenner Community Center. (Go to Jenner. Look for the signs. You can't miss it.) Enjoy traditional Irish music with Susan Spurlock and friends, drink Guinness and, of course eat corned beef. Bring $5.00 nd a dish to share. 6 - 10 PM on St. Pat's Day.
Re: St. Patrick's Day
I corn my own brisket and have been for years-as we speak, the brisket is corning-for every 5 lbs of meat-8 cups water,1 cup Kosher salt, 10 cloves garlic- 1/2 jar pickling spices + 6 whole cloves-into zip locks and into you fridge for 2-3 wks, turning every few days-Rinse and cover with water, slowly simmering for 3 hours-I serve this with home made soda bread, steamed leeks, new potatoes, carrots, and cabbage-each veg cooked in the broth only until just done, and warmed at the last minute-mustard and horseradish sauces accompany. NO SALT PETER TO MAKE IT RED-I have been told many times this is the best!
