Re: Raw milk
Thanks Eric. Yeah, I just saw the milk the other day and am doing a bit more research before officially writing anything. So thanks for the catch. Just wanted to get a discussion going. I have a few articles in the printer right now. Stay tuned!
Re: Raw milk
Both my brother and sister came down with undulent fever as a result of drinking raw milk. This is a nasty disease that lives in the body for many years. This happened about 70 years ago and I imagine now cows are tested before their milk is allowed on the market. However, I say, take care and make sure the milk comes from a safe source.

Re: Raw milk
With all the hormones, antibiotics, and other 'elements' that wind up in our milk supply, it's a wonder that people consume that stuff at all. Also consider the high impact of cattle farming on our fragile environment, as well as moral and ethical questions related to the treatment and conditions that many of these animals are forced to endure. I recently started using Silk (soy 'milk') for my daily cereal and occasional cookie consumption - it's much healthier for me, it's healthier for the environment, it's tastier, it lasts longer in my fridge, and it costs about the same as cow milk does. Next time you reach for the milk, consider trying a carton of Silk instead.

Re: Raw milk
If you would like information on raw milk go to www.mercola.com. Dr. Mercola is an M.D. that specilizes in creating health and does alot of research that is verified. "We" can have all the opinions we like, but hereing actual information from am M.D has more crediblity.
Re: Raw milk
Clover is fine. I don't need raw milk. There is nothing wrong with your milk, it is not killing you. The air we breathe should be of concern. The organic food chaos is getting out of hand. Look at what our parents ate, drank, and smoked, that whole generation lived a long time. Pollution is killing us, plastics, lead, fossil fuels its everywhere. Raw milk does sound good though.

Re: Raw milk
I agree, pasteurized milk is not killing anyone. However, I just really like raw milk for taste reasons. Pasteurized milk starts smelling foul and rotten to me after 3 days max. Its a problem, I keep throwing milk away because the smell makes me retch. Raw milk just gets more and more sour. It doesn't go foul. I've used raw milk that is 2 weeks old and it is just sour like buttermilk, not rotten. Also, the cream reminds me of the non-homogenized milk I grew up on in England. I still don't understand why all the milk is homogenized here.

Re: Raw milk
I grew up drinking raw milk. As an adult I don't generally bother with milk unless it's for baking or similar, because pasteurized milk just doesn't appeal.
Some of this may also be that most milk these days comes from Holsteins, which also results in a fairly bland uninteresting product, but if there's raw milk around I might start consuming milk again.
Re: Raw milk
I consume raw milk. I prefer my food to be as close to the same state as it came from the earth or beast as possible. I would also like to comment on soy. It may not be the healthful food that many believe it to be. I've had two nutritionists tell me that unless soy is fermented (as in miso soup) it is unfood. Soy is very difficult for the human body to digest. Soy milk is a highly processed food there by making it's nutritional value suspect. Soy is also a cancer feeding substance because of the phytoestrogens it contains. I am allergic to soy as are many people and it is in most processed foods (bread, cereal, tuna, mayo, marinara sauce. Just food for thought.

Re: Raw milk
remember one thing about pasteurized milk...it`s dead. oh yeah, about soy? google it and find out the facts

Re: Raw milk
I want to just reiterate the soy myth of 'healthy food'. Soy is one of the most heavily chemically processed foods out there and so many pesticides are used in their growth many groups out there have considered our worlds high soy production to be a contaminant and a severe waste of valuable land. Do your research on soy before you consume. And give goat milk a try if you have tolorence issues- it is the most easily digestible animal milk for human consumption ( i find it rather funky tasting but it's' molecular composition is much closer to human milk)

Re: Raw milk
I am lactose intolerant. I left dairy alone for a long time. Then I joined a milking club because I loved milking the cow... tried the raw milk, and I have no symptoms. What a surprise! The milk is delicious, much much more complex in flavor. It is delicate and must be handled carefully. I am so happy to be able to buy it in stores, since the cow I used to help milk has happily retired!

Re: Raw milk
RAW MILK??? WOW it 's the BEST anyone who has never tried it give it a chance - you 'll never be sorry.
I grew up in the NL. and raw whole milk was the standard treatment for T.B. patients. as well as rich butter and clean air. Anyway I buy once a week one gallon raw milk at Oliver's because their price is best. This is only for my own consumption, but if I should have to feed this to our five kids it would be prohibitively expensive. The small and the old (myself) need it most. NO more need for PRO - BIOTICS and no more ENZYMES needed. In that area one saves some money. It is food as well as drink. The combo being minerals/ protein. People in the past have thrived on it.

Re: Raw milk
I was schooled by a nutritionist last week on Raw milk. I contains enzymes that help digestion especially for people who are lactose intolerant.
My little girl who is 15months old was having bad gas issues and we switched her off regular milk and she has no issues with RAW....life is good again.
also, Soy milk is not good for kids as it changes their hormones.

Re: Raw milk
Ha Ha! Raw milk is milk that has NOT been pasteurized, NOT "milk that has been unpasteurized" as your BiteClub message mis-states. Organic Pastures raw milk products are also sold at Whole Foods in Sebastopol and Berkeley, Community Food Store near Santa Rosa Junior College, Ukiah Natural Foods Coop, and Mariposa's in Willits. It is a great food to prevent lactose intolerance, for calcium absorption in the body, though it does tend to concentrate trace nuclear contamination fallout leaking from normal daily operations of nuclear power facilities world wide. Unfortunately the state legislature last year passed a 'stealth' bill signed by the Governator Arnold, to arbitrarily reduce bacterial counts of all species of ecoli bacteria, friendly or not to a statistically impossible threshold to adher to, with the unstated or unanticipated intent for practical purposes to ban raw milk sales in California, now under court review.
