Falafel

Any places that serve falafel in Santa Rosa besides East West cafe? I'm looking for the real deal. It was easy to get when I lived in San Francisco, but I can't seem to find any around here.

the best place is Aram's Cafe in Petaluma. Located on Kentucky street. Absolutely the best for falafels and other mediteranean cuisine.

THere is a new little Turkish place that just opened in Petaluma on G and Petaluma Blvd (across from Pinkys Pizza). The food is excellent. I have eaten there 2 times in the first week it has been open. The falafel, hummas...everything ...YUMMY.

The best falafel (the real deal, trust me) comes from a small grocery store/deli in Rohnert Park called Sal's Produce. It is on Commerce one block down from Safeway, and across from Rite Aid. The store carries all sorts of international groceries - Egyptian, Turkish, Indian, Lebanese, etc., and the deli has falafel (both ready and freshly made "dough" that you can fry at home), spinach and meat pies, hummus, baba ganouj and more. The olives are fantastic, and cheap. They also have a fresh meat counter selling lamb, goat, beef and chicken. Nice people.

The most wonderful hidden gem of Mediterranean Food is Sam's Mediterranean Deli on Martin Ave. in Rohnert Park. Can't believe it's not been discovered yet. Fresh and home-made. He has a different special each day. Best hummus ever, and Mjaddarah to die for. The owner, Sam barbecues beef on Tuesdays, Pork on Wednesdays, Hamburgers on Thursdays, and chicken on Fridays. Curry vegetable stew on Mondays. The flavor of his bbq'd meats is amazing, due to his marinades and seasonings. I believe he gets most of his ingredients in the city, but has recommended Sal's Produce to me.

I haven't been able to make it there since last November, so I am hoping he's still going strong! Somebody please check it out & report back!
