Fried Chicken!
I'm also working on a piece about fried chicken. Where do you get it besides KFC or Popeyes? I'm talking real fried chicken. SOund off.
Re: Fried Chicken!
BarBersQ in Napa has great fried chicken on Sundays. They traveled all around US perfecting their recipe. I know it's not in Sonoma County but it's worth the trip.

Re: Fried Chicken!
Agree about Rockers. Best Fried Chicken I've found in the county so far. One to avoid: Red Rose Cafe (I think that's the name- on Piner.) The fried chicken was not so great and the service was awful.

Re: Fried Chicken!
We love the fried chicken at ad hoc in Yountville but it is only served every other Monday night. Check their webpage for the menu of the day.

Re: Fried Chicken!
Red Rose Cafe on Piner Road in Santa Rosa has good fried chicken. They make it to order, so you might want to order ahead of time.

Re: Fried Chicken!
AdHoc is good...I thought Stormy's Fried Chix was pretty good to...The best that I've had in years...
Q in Napa...it's not Sonoma style, but it beats all the other fried chix I've ever had with the exception of my Granny's

Re: Fried Chicken!
i agree with red rose cafe. they make really good fried chicken, but the best is the ribs with collard greens. I live in Sacramento now, but I miss that from sonoma county :)

Re: Fried Chicken!
Red Rose Cafe's fried chicken tastes like Shake 'n' Bake, but they do have good ribs, and I LOVE their collards and yams. Will have to try Rocker Oysterfeller's...the BF is a huge fried chicken fan.

Re: Fried Chicken!
Actually have had very good food and service at Red Rose. They do have good fried chicken. Kind of a funny - Fou Zhou Chinese Buffet on Mendocino Ave actually has great fried chicken legs!
Sure miss Bunny's Country Kitchen and The Big Yellow House. Those were real fried chicken restaurants.

Yeah. Honey Biscuits was pretty sweet. He promised to call me if he reopened, but I've yet to hear back. Too bad.
Re: Fried Chicken!
TWIN OAKS in Penngrove, off Old Redwood Highway on Tuesday nights!
Southern style.

Re: Fried Chicken!
Sam's for Play Cafe on Cleveland has a good fried chicken reminescent of the old Artic Circle. my only complaint would be the size of the bird itself, in this case i jokingly state that i would support growth hormones because the chicken is kinda small but still quite tasty!

Re: Fried Chicken!
oh, my goodness. I was just out at the Duck Club Restaurant in Bodega Bay-and had the best fried chicken I have ever had in my life!
I am still dreaming about the "Fried Chicken and Dumplings' I had there
and cannot WAIT to get back. Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Gnocchi Dumplings, Brussell Sprouts-yum!
And they give you a really large portion (I relucntantly had to share).
I guess they have a new chef out there, he's great. We'll be back!

Re: Fried Chicken!
Rocker Oysterfeller's in Valley Ford, hands down. Super crispy skin, juicy interior. Comes with smashed potatoes with an awesome gravy.
Also, Casino bar in Bodega has fried chicken on certain nights (can't remember which) also good. Plus you get to drink with fishermen and the meal costs about $8.

Re: Fried Chicken!
I just had the best fried chicken in my life at Black Bear Diner in Rohnert Park.
The breading was thick and spicy and crunch. The meat was moist. The bonus is that they don't use trans-fat for frying.
There were probably 8-10 sides to choose from. I had the mashed potatoes and the veg of the day (green beans with bacon). Potatoes were above average, though the beans (while good) seemed like they were in a steam tray for a while.
