Pasties? (no, not those)

Postby Noah on Wed Dec 17, 2008 2:27 PM

I'm from northern MN where pasties (basically, large cornish empanadas stuffed with beef, suet, and root veggies) are easy to find.

Where can one find a pasty around here?

The primary place for pasites around here is Toad in the Hole, an English pub in Santa Rosa on 5th St, in the Railroad Square portion of downtown Santa Rosa. It's between Last Day Saloon and Hotel La Rose. The pasties aren't as good as home-made for us, but they are good. They also have them at the Black Rose Pub on Armory Dr, anta Rosa (behind the JC, along the freeway), but I haven't been there in a few years so I can't say how good they are.

I second the nod for the Toad - we've even considered bringing Paul's (owner/operater of the toad) pasties in to our restaurant as late night eats. If you go there for the pasties, check out whatever he's got on cask- often it's something cool from Lagunitas that only he has.
