Tom Cable is through as Raiders coach after this season -- has to be. That bonehead fake field goal he tried in the second quarter has to be the end. It resulted in a Chiefs' TD because Shane Lechler was directed to shove the ball between his legs -- he dropped it -- to Sebastian Janikowski who was supposed to run -- get this -- 18 yards for a first down. I don't know if Seabass even can run 18 yards, certainly not fast enough. Cable said the play worked in practice. Great.
So Cable was too clever for his own good, the mark of a desperate coach, the mark of a bad coach.
Nice knowing you, Tom.
If you want to read my full column on the demise of Cable and the trouble with JaMarcus Russell click here.
Another brilliant post by Lowell...Im dead serious how are you even employed?Wheres your article bashing Singeltary and the Niners? The mark of a bad journalist.
ONE MORE TIME == Mr. Cohn's comments about JaMarcus Russell's performance against the Chiefs is certainly in line with what I saw. But I expect the "JRuss" faithful to again cite this as his rookie year and the reason for below-acceptable performance.
In truth, this was one more time that Russell played badly. That includes many missed passes, and poor decisions. Even though the coaching staff keeps the playbook simple for him, he does not look like he can grasp that.
Please note the true quarterback rookies in the NFL, who are in their very first seasons, and are playing well. Twice Russell has been shamed by playing against those rookies, who looked solid.
Oh, yeah, and the shades during post-game interview made Russell look even more like a dope.
"Go, Raiders, and if you lose I take back all the nice things I said."
We're waiting.
Hi Mr Cohn,
I really want to like coach Cable. He comes off as a likeable person, but.
He has proven like you have written that he is not the man for the Job. Game managment is what it comes down to. He knows it too. He had a good idea about his coaching problems after the time out field goal mishap, and he has done really little to dispell it.
You are right on with regards to J. Russel. He showed no passion yesterday what so ever. Along with horrible choices by the coaches, and himself. He has flamed out here in Oakland. The only way he succeds is on another team. He will not win over the fans, even if he throws for a 500 yard game.
I'm waiting for Lowell to take back everything he said about how great the Raiders are compared to all the other bay area sports teams as well. Every year we have to hear about how great the Raiders will be with all their talent, etc. And every year I am happy to see they are no better or worse than the niners. I can't wait to see what Lowell has to say at the start of next year!
I've probably been more critical of the Raiders than any other columnist. They've even taken me off their email list as a form of retribution. In this case I was trying to be positive. So I ask you, is that so wrong?
