Tough to say if he should get the permanent job. He's done good things. The offense is playing better. He and Mike Martz seem to function together. The players are spirited and play hard. Compare him to Tom Cable, the interim across the Bay and there's no comparison. Cable was DOA, and Singletary has life.

But Singletary has won only one game and that was against the Rams, a team that should be run out of the league for sheer incompetence. Next week in Dallas we'll get a better barometer of where the Niners really are at and how good Singletary is. He is an imposing man but imposing does not always translate into wins. We'll see.

One criticism of him is unfair. People say the 49ers should have a head coach who's an offensive coach. That way they won't be up the creek if the offensive coordinator leaves -- as has happened in the past. Well, teams need both offensive and defensive coordinators. And I want to remind you George Seifert was a defensive guy and the team did pretty well under him.

Siefert inherited a championship team. All he had to do was keep his foot on the gas pedal and enjoy the ride!

To early to say yet in my opinion. I think we should let it play out and see who is available at the end of the year. Obviously this isn't Mike's team yet. The issue with Nolan is he had the necessary time and these guys were "his guys". I like to give Mike more of a test drive. I do like his attitude.

Lowell! Please come free and tell us the truth. You know the 49ers are going to give away the house to get Holgrem before or after his semi retirement.
I hope he doesn't come to the team not because I do not like the 49ers, I am a life long lover of the team. But for Holgrem's own career and health, and his chance at entering Canton (he'll probably get there anyway on his previous success,)I hope he'll stay retired or go to a Franchise that will appreciate him.
That won't happen with the Yorks in control. No way! Their LOSERS and will always be LOSERS!
I see Holgrem as a BIG WINNER and wouldn't want to see his great coaching and knowledge of NFL football SULLIED by the Yorks.
I'd like to see your comments on this subject.

Singletary brings a certain 'Fear Factor' to the table. I think he has done a great job given all the EGO and crying from his athletes that are still trying to figure it out.

There is a big difference between a face to face conversation with a coach who lived his life in the A GAP and another who was afforded the opportunity to avoid it.

For that reason alone, and assuming Mike can coach, respect will be there, and then we can get down to eliminating talkers and excuses, which will give us the opportunity to rise above all the crap that has been overshadowing many years of great 49ers football. Bring in a couple of coaches who also get it who are okay supporting Mike knowing that he does not get it entirely and we have a purpose.
