I'm not in New York so there are things I don't know about Stephon Marbury vs. the Knicks. It must be very hard for a good player like him to fall out of the coach's grace. Whatever the cause, Marbury refused to play in a game when called upon. Marbury says he never refused, says coach Mike D'Antoni gave him the option whether to play or not. This seems like splitting longuistic hairs. The team needed him and he chose not to play.

"He gave me straight disrespect," Marbury said of D'Antoni. "It was beyond disrespect."

Here's what I say to Marbury. No one cares about your disrespect. It's irrelevant. You were called on to play and you refused. On the other hand, when the Knicks sent you their checks you didn't refuse -- you accepted them. If you accept the money you do what you're told. Respect has nothing to do with it.

Good thing Marbury isn't writing this blog, he wouldn't last a week due to hurt feelings. This entire story makes me ill. Seriously, where do these people come from? I work in a professional environment and we say things nicely, but things get "said". A job is a job so Marbury do your job and quit whinning. The point about accepting the checks is the salient concept. If you take the money, you do the job.

He is defending himself on the line that the coach didn't demand him to play!! It was an option! Since it was an option and he declined it is ok! He doesn't see the fact that by declining the option he shows his shows his true character. This guy is the Poster Child for everything that is wrong about the NBA. Complete idiot!!!!!

This guy is not a player, he's a drama queen. He's trying to make some irrelevant point and stick it to the man, but you just don't do that on the court; You play. What a cry baby! What is with these "professional" athletes nowadays!
