This delay in the trial of the century is not good for barry b.
forget that he has to wait around and fret some more while the prosecution appeals stuff. that stinks for starters. but remember barry wants to play this year. if he could get this trial over with fast he might be able to convince some team to take him on and pay him a fortune and let him live out his dreams of playing more ball.
now with the trial delayed no sucker team is likely to want him because he'll have to leave in midseason to defend himself in court. on the face of it, this is a bad break for barry.
do you feel sorry for him?
does anyone?
OK Lowell, I will take your bait. Yes, I feel sorry for Barry. I wanted this trial to start and find some type of early closure. Even if this meant bad news towards Barry. It now appears that he will not be playing anymore baseball. I am a life long Giants fan & I would have become a fan of any team that would sign him to play. I now know that this will be very unlikely. It is truly the time to move forward with this whole subject matter, and to focus on things that really matter...like our economy.
I also wanted to put in my 2 cents worth on the wrong is wrong subject;
Wrong is the MLB approach towards steroids.
Wrong is having Bud Selig as the commissioner.
Wrong is altering any record accomplished.
Now...right is right;
Right is a harsh penalty for any steroid abuse.
Right is watching Manny Ramirez not being signed.
Right is hearing the umpire say" Play Ball" on opening day.
Toolguy,
Thanks for writing again. I always appreciate your perspective. I admit I don't feel sorry for Barry. It's personal and I understand that's not relevant or fair. I do agree with all your other comments -- they're well put and punchy and I think you could be a sports columnist if newspapers stay in business. I am interested in your animus toward Manny Ramirez. Please explain. And what's with that toolguy moniker? Have a great weekend.
Lowell
Your shift" key broke or something?
Read Jonathan Littman's article in Playboy. It's online. Then feel sorry for what happened to justice in America. Lowell, you can feel sorry for or hate whoever you want.
Hi Lowell,
I am enjoying my weekend, & thanks for enjoying my takes. I will be happy to explain my stance on Manny Ramirez...I think that he is too self-centered & I am having a hard time relating to his current contract demands. It would serve him right if the Dodgers would pull the plug on his negotiations. Then what would happen to his value? Would there be other MLB teams ready to sign him? Would he be able to retain his value? or, would he have to suck it up & sign a deal that is beneath his standard of living? With all of this said, I really don't care if he signs with the Giants. He would only be with us for a year or two, and it's not like we would have him for a fifteen year run, like our previous left fielder. + Thanks for clarifying your feelings on Barry. I always knew that your dislike for him was personal. I can accept your view, & I will always be a fan of his. I have a greater issue with MLB and it's lack of proper policy towards this whole steroid issue. My argument is pretty simple...Barry Bonds did not do anything illegal, in accordance to the MLB rules on steroids.
Sincerely, Toolguy
