Yankees manager Joe Girardi asked this question about Selena Roberts' book on A-Rod released today: "I don't understand why someone would write a book like this anyway."

You don't understand, Joe. The book is called a biography. People write biographies. People read biographies. People are interested in biographies. Visit the library, Joe. Lots to be learned there. To read my column on the A-Rod book click here.

I can't tell you how many times I wished someone in professional sports had kept their mouth shut. It's like looking at a beautiful woman and then she speaks with a sub average IQ. Kind of ruins the experience...at least for me. (I'm sure many would disagree haha).
Additionly, to think this guy is making more money then I can imagine.....well I guess you feel that way often huh Lowell?

Credit where credit is due: You are the master of taking a quote, completely misrepresenting it, and then mocking and belittling the person who said it based on that misrepresentation. I didn't even need to read the rest of Girardi's comments to know that he wasn't wondering why people write (and read) biographies. No one would ever wonder such a thing, and you know it. And, sure enough, after reading his comments in their entirety, it's clear he was bemoaning not biographies but rather people's love for the negative, the tawdry and the salacious. Maybe a little naive on his part, but still.

Cohn strikes again. Why do you keep doing this, Lowell? Your consistently deep sea sub-par journalism has forced me to make an account on here just to ask, why?

Why are you so perpetually simultaneously negative and blind in the same breath? Take this latest piece on Girardi for example. You decided that a good idea for a front page piece was a knock on the Yankees manager for asking why a sportswriter would write a biography on one of his players. Really? You think THAT'S what he was asking? Not why someone would write a biography on a living 31 yr old man with no other reason than to defame his character with COMPLETELY unsubstantiated "facts" (you even alluded to this part later in your article, so I know you at least saw this).
I don't know what about Girardi's comments on the matter made you think it was the former and not the latter. I really don't. Coming from a person who has absolutely zero respect for A-Rod, her book was on par with anything you'd find in your weekly National Esquire magazine. Her journalistic reputability is SHOT after that book. And, well, so should be yours.

If Roberts defamed A-Rod in her book let him sue her. There are libel laws after all. I doubt he'll sue her. Makes you wonder about his credibility vs. hers.

I think that your biography take is pretty funny. It's likely that Girardi is really questioning the timing of the release of this book.
Selena Roberts has certainly done her homework on A-Rod, but it may also be a little bit too simple to blame his dad, for A-Rod's woes in life.
I am a little surprised by the timing of the book. There used to be an imaginary line between off-season steroid talk & to when the season started.
I had always known that once the season started, we could virtually skip the steroid talk until another point in time. All of this talk distracts from the real joy of watching or listening to a baseball game.
I know that this stuff is still relevent. MLB needs to figure-out a way to bring closure to the steroid era.
This maybe impossible, but it would be great to read & watch other storylines unfold.
