The headline on the front page of today's Philadelphia Daily News: HIDE YOUR DOGS.
Great newspaper headline and welcome to Philly, Mr. Vick.
There's way too much sentimental sniveling about Vick -- He did his time. He deserves a second chance. He's truly remorseful. He didn't kill a human being. Dogs don't actually have souls. Blah. Blah.
The Daily News got it right. Hide your dogs. And while you're at it -- no sympathy for Vick.

It would appear that Mr. Vick is in deep trouble with his comeback in Philly. Dog owners are not accepting of the man and regular folks are skeptical of his sincerity even when he claims he has done wrong and is repentant. The other element of criticism is obviously coming from the liberal press, a.k.a. our failing newspaper industry.
One of the worse things you can do in the eyes of the liberal nation is to harm an animal. This is unforgivable in the liberal mindset, not that being accused of murder isn't unforgivable, but let's face it - Ray Lewis is the starting middle linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens.
Vick could try to redeem himself by buying a Prius, or living in a totally green home or say something nasty about Rush Limbaugh, but he has apparently sealed his fate with his anti-animal behavior.
"Blah. Blah." is right, Mr. Cohn.
I really think that the Eagles are probably the best possible team that Vick could have signed with...
Andy Reid & Donovan McNabb are people that are on the same level as Tony Dungy, for being a mentor to Vick.
I still do not have an opinion one way or another regarding this mess. I am getting tired of the modern day superstar and their attitudes towards being "above the law". The acts to Vick committed are certainly some of the worst of alltime. It is getting pretty old to read comments on what his acts compare with. It would be in everybody's best interest to move-on and to comment on the events that are currently surrounding Michael Vick's life.
The Eagles are in for some crazy times ahead and their loyal fans are some of the best sports fans in the country and also some of the harshest.
I also liked the Philadelphia newspaper headline, and It will be interesting to see if he is truly capable of being an NFL superstar...I have my doubts if he can.
Keep up the good fight, Lowell!!!!
Thank God the Raiders and 49ers have the decency to hire players with a higher moral standing than that of Sick Vick. His scrpted apologies are making me ill.
I am currently down in Georgia on vacation and this morning all the local news channels pre-empted regular programming to show Vicks press conference. What a waste of time. Talk about being rewarded for bad behavior. How would you explain to an 8 year old why his show isn't on and this guy is on tv???
Hi Lowell
I guess eating crow is tough on you and sour grapes is your approach.
I'm glad there were forgiving souls out there who were willing to give a young man another chance.
Hi Lowell,
God forbid somebody close to you make a mistake and maybe then you will forgive somebody for their actions. I find what Vick did completely awful, but their are people in the NFL that have killed people, where's the condemnation for them? Boo him all you want, i will too, but he paid for his crimes and deserves a second chance.
Vick made a mistake? You call what he did a mistake? A mistake is something you probably didn't mean to do and you did it one time. He committed crimes over a period of years. Some mistake.
I completely agree with you, Mr. Cohn. Right on!
The ferocity with which you continually present your point of view lessens the effectiveness of your argument considerably Mr. Cohn. Granted, there are mental, ethical and emotional aspects that all play roles here and help to define your opinion. Your lack of alacrity for any other point of view except your own is alarming at best. Especially with the soap box you've been given. You've turned Michael Vick's past tense into your present tense. I for one hope this is over and you will move on to something worthy of your talents.
Hi Lowell
as you state..." crimes over a period of years" is true.
It is all about choices in life. He made the wrong ones. Young men often do. Even though he paid his debt to society, you want him to grovel in poverty and have a miserable life.It is like you wish for him a life without hope.
Lowell, sometimes I truley worry for you. Your outlook is very unhealthy.
Maybe because the excuses Vick's fans are presenting here (and in other forums) are like a broken record "he did his time, he paid his dues *BLIP*"he did his time, he paid his dues *BLIP*..."
Vick was the kid who ran around with his friends and would sic dogs on cats at the lumber yard. He was a sick, twisted, vile child and it only grew worse as he got older. He enjoyed what he did. No one in the Bad Newz Kennels dog fighting organization made a move without his approval. If you don't believe that, read the interview with his father, Michael Broddie.
Not a single original thought from any of his defenders. Not one of you are aware of the details of what the man you defend did. Most of you won't even bother to look.
You don't want to know the truth. It's so much easier to put the blinders on and call it a "mistake".
The sport of football won't suffer due to Vick's absence.
Michael Vick belongs in a psychiatric hospital, he is a sociopath.
hope he really functions on the field.
Thank you for sharing your point of view.
He's a second-string quarterback 3000 miles away. He's not Satan.
In early 2004, two men in Vick's home state of Virginia were arrested for distributing marijuana. The truck they were driving was registered to Vick.
Second chance.
In March 2005, a woman filed a lawsuit against Vick for having sex with her under an alias name of Ron Mexico and giving her genital herpes. Vick settled the case out of the courtroom.
Third chance.
In November, 2006, after a loss to the New Orleans Saints,he flipped off the fans in his own home stadium in reaction to the fans booing his performance.
4th chance.
In January, 2007, Vick surrendered a water bottle at an airport that contained a secret compartment that was allegedly used to smuggle marijuana.
5th chance.
Seems the NFL fan base is as bad as it's players.
I believe that's a second rate quarterback.
And it's not certain he will even be playing in that position.
Patrick's complaints about the people who are OK with giving Michael Vick another chance made me laugh out loud. He complains that they have nothing new to say, while continuing to blow his one sour note on his trumpet.
Now then, it looks to me like the Eagles were looking for an experienced guy to fit into their new wildcat package. How many credible candidates are there? Among currently available skill players, who can be successful in that package AND meet Patrick's (and Lowell's!) for moral rectitude?
Aside to Patrick: all in good fun - enjoy your notoriety! ;-)
