I accuse Raiders fans of being bad fans.

Good fans would not accept the crummy product the Raiders put on the field year after year after year. Good fans would reject the Raiders hands down.

I accuse Raiders fans of not really caring how their wretched team performs.

I accuse Raiders fans of being more into dressing up in their Raider costumes than knowing a good team from a horrible team.

I accuse Raiders fans of going to Raiders games. A real fan would stay away. A fan with pride and poise would stay home and clean out the sock drawer or change the bag in the vacuum cleaner or take a nap. A real fan would do anything but honor that team with his/her presence and money.

A real fan would show the Raiders what silence sounds like. The Raiders deserve complete and absolute silence.

I accuse Raiders fans of accepting that lousy quarterback and that dismal defense.

I accuse Raiders fans of adoring Al Davis. A real fan would insist Davis sell the team. A real fan would know Davis for what he is. I accuse Raiders fans of admiring Davis when they should admit football has passed him by.

If that suggestion seems cruel or unreasonable, Raiders fans should insist Davis hire a general manager with real power to hire a real staff and a real coach as opposed to the stiff they have now. I accuse Raiders fans of accepting an unacceptable state of affairs. I accuse Raiders fans of doing nothing about it.

I accuse Raiders fans of supporting the worst franchise by far in the Bay Area, maybe the worst franchise in the known world. I accuse Raiders fans of attending Raiders games when the Raiders have earned the loyalty of no one.

I encourage Raiders fans to wise up and make the only statement that matters - stay home.

Real Raiders fans would stay home.

And scare the neighborhood kids in those ridiculous costumes? No, it's better for them to hang with Al.

The sure stunk out the joint in Houston.

I love the A's, but I have and will continue to shun them until they value their major league team more than the farm system.

Lowell! Ira said the Raiders would win! And he wasn't sure about Russell at QB?

No other team in football is playing as badly as the Raiders. The offense and defense is easily schemed and thus beaten. Al believes man on man is best. But we don't have the best players, therefore, his defense does not work. He can't will this team to victory. The organization must rebuild from the top down. If this were the 70s or 80s, a 1-3 start would not be too concerning, but now, it's the nail in the coffin.

First of all, you don't have the right to accuse anyone of anything. Secondly, I turned the game off in the second quarter and took the family to the pumpkin patch. Am I a good fan now?

Like I always say about you, anything negative to write about the raiders you will. Attack the team, and the fans, you will do it. But you are to chicken to write anything negative about the QB. Way to go.
Or are you going to get some balls and do it??

As the Texans were running out the clock, the camera picked up Russell on the bench......laughing...laughing !!
I thought...what is this dude laughing about.....then I realized.....he has multiple millions of $$.....why should he worry about a football game ?...I wonder what Al ( just win baby) Davis is thinking?....very sad situation....and I personally am loving every minute of it.....Go Niners !!

For Terry -- Ira Miller did not say the Raiders would beat Houston. This is what he said and Lowell wrote: "That's their best chance for a win in the next 5 weeks. Will they win? I don't know."

Lowell,

You know this means no invite to the Raiders' Press Corp End of Season Luncheon!

Go Niners!

Hi Lowell,
Your concept of what constitutes a bad fan is slightly skewed.
Please don't lump all Raider fans into your category of being bad fans.
I happen to consider myself a good fan...
I have personally been a Raider fan since 1970. I have attended approx. 60-70 games since their return in 1995.
I currently stay at home for economic reasons and also because they are not performing to the standards of an NFL team.
There are times that I will go do something else, when they become completely frustrating to watch.
Several of your current opinions on the Raiders are opinions that I have already expressed from previous comments.
It is completely obvious that they need to reorganize and assemble a true staff that is qualified to run a pro football team.
+ As a Raider fan, we cannot control anything that Al Davis does and it is best in life - not to worry about things that you cannot control.
It may still take a while for the Raiders to return to some resemblance of winning and we are fortunate enough to have had a glorious past. We could have been Detroit Lions fans and how many playoff victories has that organiztion enjoyed since 1957 ??

Toolguy, I never mean to offend you and of course your comment is reasonable. I was expressing a wish -- perhaps too bluntly -- that Raiders fans simply stay away. I believe the only thing that can influence change over there is a hit to the pocketbook. An empty stadium would be an important statement. Lowell

I also agree that I try not to offend you, especially when we either disagree or have different points of views.
I prefer to have a good exchange of words and I do enjoy our exchanges. It's fun trying to match wits with a PhD...
Probably the greatest irony of the Al Davis legacy is to watch the financial demise of this once proud organization.
In the late 70's the Raiders were one of the "crown jewels" of the NFL. They were one of the richest franchises and they constantly sold the most NFL gear.
Now they are at the bottom of the league for net worth and this is something that goes beyond Al Davis' control - in terms of resurrecting their financial order.

it's so awful. it's making me hate all football, because it's not like I can just pick a new team now. I'm starting to curse the day the came back to Oakland, and into my life.

The Al-pologists are getting fewer by the day Lowell. I haven't missed a game in person or TV since 1999. I last went to a Raiders game in person in 2004 when Denver beat Oakland at home 31-3 in the rain. That day I swore I would never pay to attend an Oakland Raiders game or financially support Al in anyway until he is gone or changes, which means I am waiting until he is gone. I am sick of the stupid decisions, the puppet hires and constant overhaul of the coaching staff.
As I have grown older, I have gone to college and taken many business and entrepreneurial courses and realized a few things about the Raiders. Basically I love the Raiders yet detest Al Davis. Al is a pathological liar with a Napoleon complex who has no business running a business because he is a poor leader of people and a poor businessman, Al says he doesn't care what others think yet obviously with his with his treatment of the media, he is lying. He is the king of deniability. You can even look at the handshake deal with the City of Oakland as a sign of this. Al can blame everyone but Al.
I remember an article about a football card photographer and his experience with Al, He said he asked Al how he wanted to pose and Al said not with his arms crossed because that would make him look defensive and weak and he didn't want people to think of him like that.
As for telling the Raider fans to stay away, it will lead to only one thing, the Los Angeles Raiders. The lease is up in 2 years, they don't have a new stadium lined up. If the stadium is half full, then Al will move and say it was everyone's but his fault.
It's about time though for the fans there to not boo JaMarcus Russell, unless he continues to be overweight and more interested in wearing hideous clothes and bling than being an NFL player, but boo, chant, make signs and condemn Al Davis for his actions for the first time. Players need to start rebelling against his actions and stick up for the coaches. If a player is more interested in their social life, then condemn him. If its just one player, they will get the Marcus Allen treatment, if its many, Al can do nothing. Coaches need to ignore him and run their own game plan because if Al continues to be meddle, they will be fired for losing.
It's time to start naming names of the cancers in that locker room, I don't care who it is. Warren Sapp might be doing this, but he was more of the problem than the solution when he was here. The fans of the Raiders have long deserved better and its starting to look like people are finally going to attack Al for being a loser. Things are going to get uglier at home games with performances like the last 2 weeks. What's going to happen next year if Cable is gone, either fired or in jail,

Is Al going to have to hire John Robinson?

I've been a Raider fan since 1968. They are directly responsible for many of the best and happiest moments of my life. I suppose there may come a time when the bad outweighs the good, but, and as bad as they've been the last six-going-on-seven seasons, that time has not come yet. One thing I agree with you on is, the whole dressing up thing that some of the fans are into. That's the only time I'm embarrassed to be a Raider fan, is when they show those idiots on tv, and I can see why people like to see the Raiders lose, just to see those clowns crying in their beers.

Spoken like a true 49er fan Cohn. They are well known for jumping on the band wagon when times are good and back off when the team suffers....yep 49er fan that's Cohn.

Who said we adore Al? Most of us having been waiting years for him to pass on, not that we wish death on anyone, but we do realize that until he passes it's gonna be the same 'ol same 'ol every year. In fact I'm starting to wonder if maybe he hasn't already passed but left instructions in this will to have Disney make a mechanical Likeness of him to put in his box for every game so none of us realize he's gone.

As far as staying home goes there's no problem there. Who the hell can afford to take a family of 5 to a football game any more anyways. I looked for 5 tickets to the Charger game and the best I could do was right below Mt. Davis at the bargin price of just over $800.00!!!

So are the fan's loyal to the team? Yeah, and most of the players earn that loyalty by try8ing their hardest. As far as Russel goes he was a bad pick from day one, but what can a fan do to change what happens in the draft?

The Niners look to be doing well under Singletary's command. I'd say it's just about time for you and the rest of the Niner fans to jump back on the wagon Cohn.
