If I were a player on the Golden State Warriors I would play my heart out so Don Nelson gets the record this season -- passing Lenny Wilkens for most wins by a coach in the NBA.
Why would I do that? Here's why. If Nelson gets his record the Warriors could buy him out after the season and send him on his way. I mean, who wants this bored, uninterested man coaching that team next season? It would be like a curse. The Warriors need to be free of him. The Warriors need a new start -- yet again.
I will be writing a column for Thursday about Nelson and the Warriors and where they stand, or don't stand, at the All Star Break.

And if I were a fan of GSW, I would not watch or go to any games (even if it's free) because that puts money in Cohan's pocket. The team needs a fresh start from the top, not just from the coaching spot.
Since Nelson loves $$ more then anything, I assume buy out, means he would get his 6 million in full
I don't see how losing Nelson changes anything. They traded harrington for crawford for speedy and then gave up the contract. they ruined jackson's value by signing him to a 5 year deal while his contract still had two years. they lost baron to the clips. they trade for injured players and use d leaguers. they tell us how great it is to get trade exceptions and expiring contracts, and then let them go with the the wind.
its totally hopeless. nelson will be gone after this season and they will hire some yes-man coach.....riley, smart, or some d-leaguer. nelson will sue cohan for something and cohan will counter. fitz will say that the talent is young, the western conference is unfair, they are still reeling from mullin's o'bryant pick, and that riley is great because he picked curry (don't look at the trades...they don't count).
anyways, i'm sure i'll read the article and get depressed....and wonder why i care so much.
hey Jerome, your comment was a bit too long so I didn't read it......all I want to know is, how did you manage to hit that turn around, fade away jump shot in the midst of Sleepy Floyd's 29 point quarter vs. the Lakers in 1987?..........that was AWESOME!!!
So you're saying the GSW players are currently a bunch of worthless, lazy bums who aren't winning because they aren't trying?
