The lead prosecutor
in the federal case against William Ayres and other members of the Weather
Underground weighed in today with a letter to the New York Times - defending
Barack Obama from guilt-by-association and praising Ayres' behavior since his
days bombing public buildings to protest the Vietnam War.

Here's the text of
Ibershof's letter:
Re "Politics of
Attack" (editorial, Oct. 8) and "Obama and '60s Bomber: A Look Into Crossed
Paths" (front page, Oct. 4):
As the lead federal
prosecutor of the Weathermen in the 1970s (I was then chief of the criminal
division in the Eastern District of Michigan and took over the Weathermen
prosecution in 1972), I am amazed and outraged that Senator Barack Obama is
being linked to William Ayers's terrorist activities 40 years ago when Mr.
Obama was, as he has noted, just a child.
Although I dearly
wanted to obtain convictions against all the Weathermen, including Bill Ayers,
I am very pleased to learn that he has become a responsible citizen.
Because Senator Obama
recently served on a board of a charitable organization with Mr. Ayers cannot
possibly link the senator to acts perpetrated by Mr. Ayers so many years ago.
I do take issue with
the statement in your news article that the Weathermen indictment was dismissed
because of "prosecutorial misconduct." It was dismissed because of illegal
activities, including wiretaps, break-ins and mail interceptions, initiated by
John N. Mitchell, attorney general at that time, and W. Mark Felt, an FBI
assistant director.
Interesting stuff, but I doubt it will satisfy critics of
Obama and Ayres, including a retired

Oh come on. Barack is linked to Ayers not when he was 7, but when he launched his political career in the living room of Ayer's house. Ayers not going to prison for the rest of his life because of John Mitchell's misconduct is a rather flimsy side issue concocted by lib big thinkers to steer people away from the essential issue at hand, which is Ayer's and Obama are linked politically. The sad truth is that libs in the media, editorial departments including, admire and romanticise old rads like Ayers without ever knowing how vicious and arrogant they really were. Journalism departments in American colleges and universities are the poorest of preparations for reality.

How To Obscure An Issue One A. Instead of informing the public about how Obama launched his political carreer in Ayres's living room, lets write about how Ayres beat the rap trying to kill Americans.
The issue isn't what happened when Obama bin Laden was 7 years old. The issue is that an UNREPENTENT MURDERER/TERRORIST who stated on 9/11/2001 after the TWIN TOWERS ATTACK "My only regret is that we didn't do enough". Ayers MURDERED people. In his opinion, he didn't murder "enough" people. He BOMBED THE PENTAGON. In his opinion, he didn't bomb it well "enough". This TERRORIST WILL BE IN THE WHITE HOUSE if Obama wins. THAT is the problem here... http://www.SoCoBB.com
We conservatives cry foul when Hollywood produces liberal film after liberal film, but when a slapstick conservative comedy reaches theaters, do we turn out in full force? No. So I ask, is Hollywood afflicted with liberal bias, or else possessed of shrewd business savvy? Which is to say, why would they produce conservative films if there is not a market for them?
In a heated presidential political season such as this, it would seem the perfect opportunity for conservatives to rally around An American Carol, yet according to box office numbers, relatively few have ponied up the eight buck admission. And while attending a ‘Republican’ movie may seem unfamiliar territory, doing so could go a long way in advancing the conservative agenda. We all know movies are political, so rather than sending the obligatory c-note to your local Republican candidate, why not cast a vote of a more unconventional nature and support this film. Who knows? You might even have a laugh or two along the way. I did.
