Taking a clubbing

Sonia Sotomayor didn't have much choice but to quit the Belizean Grove, the women's only club that bills itself as the XX chromosome equivalent of the Bohemian Club. As a federal judge, she probably shouldn't have been a member to begin with. I doubt it costs her the Supreme Court seat - and it really shouldn't - though it's fair game for the confirmation hearings.

I also don't think that Justice Antonin Scalia has any business joining the boys to pee on trees at the Bohemian Grove, but according to the program for the 1997 encampment, the justice spoke on church, state and the constitution. He resigned his membership before being appointed to the court. So did Justice Anthony Kennedy.

What do you think?

I think: have you ever seen Justice Scalia "pee" on a tree, and if so why were you watching? I also think that bodily functions should be left out of editorial blogs. But then again, since the PD editorials have been so utterly mundane and boring lately perhaps this was a lame attempt to receive attention. You did, and it is negative. Please, show some class.

Oh puhLEASE. Michael obviously has zero knowledge of Bohemian Grove and the famous antics that go on there. Peeing on trees is probably the least offensive act that takes place among the rich and powerful in that setting. I for one welcome the vetting of this institution with articles that are frank. "Showing some class" would never do it justice.
